It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a super-powered senior citizen with slight incontinence and a grappling hook! Well, there's something you don't see every day. Reader Dynatos brings this gripping image from Champions Online to our attention: "A superhero that has come back out of retirement, Granny Freedom grapples across Millennium City's skies on the lookout for both evil-doers and heroes who need a little help with their moral compass!" She's also never late for Denny's early bird specials. So what other visual treats do we have in store for you whippersnappers this week? Oh, wouldn't you like to know!

Those who have been hanging around Norrath for a while know what this time of year brings: Brewday is returning to EverQuest II. While the holiday originated with the Dwarves, they don't mind sharing the fun, so get ready to celebrate beginning March 11th with events both old and new. You'll see some familiar features such as Snoogle's Presentation, Ale Goggles, and Beers for Brell, but they offer brand new rewards, so make sure you check them out. If you're a fan of crafting, you'll be happy to hear that Brewday will bring new craftables and supplies in addition to all the other treats. So what are you waiting for, an invitation? (It's okay if you are, because you'll be receiving one in your in-game mail.) The event runs from March 11th until the 22nd, so check out the event page for the full story, and enjoy yourself!

Just in time for St. Patrick's Day, SOE has announced that EverQuest 2's Brewday 2009 will run from March 12 through 19. The in-game holiday features quests with special rewards, including lizard plushies to display in your houses, as well as my favorite: the Stone Jug of Kaladim, great for holding "Luclinshine," since the highly potent drink would eat through any weaker material. (Note from Massively staff: Please enjoy Luclinshine responsibly. Don't drink and ride your mount.) This year's quest tasks players with helping Gilin Rockbreath, a drunk dwarf, determine if his gnomish goggles are broken or not. The quests from previous Brewdays are also available for anyone who wishes to run through them. Just remember, on Brewday, everybody's dwarven!

  • Celebrating St. Patrick's Day MMO-style

Though not many Americans can quite tell you why they are celebrating St. Patrick's Day or wear a bit of green. they do love an excuse to head to an Irish pub and drink a Guinness. And this year is no different with the holiday being observed anywhere from March 15 to March 17 this year. A few MMOs are getting in on the action as well. EverQuest II is celebrating all week long with their pub-crawl inspired Brew Day Festival which has in turn inspired a video parody. And Pirates of the Caribbean Online has turned the seas green as well as offering shamrock tattoos and green hair to players to customize their avatar.Even Lord of the Rings Online is slipping in its own St. Paddy's Day celebration with a quest that rewards you with a giant size keg during Spring Festival. Tapping that beast gets you so drunk, your character passes out and wakes up in another part of Middle-earth! Better in-game, than in life, eh? Finally, if Virtual Worlds are more your style, there are sure to be many player run St. Patrick Day events in Second Life. You may have missed yesterday's float parade, but you can always visit virtual Dublin any time of year. %Gallery-18489%
