For every Batman: Arkham Asylum or Epic Mickey, there's got to be someone out there bringing shoddy licensed games to the floor of E3. Bless Crave Entertainment then, because the publisher was back at it this year, showing off titles based on Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch and Man vs. Wild TV shows, and a Brunswick-licensed PlayStation Move bowling game. The trio was quite generally terrible -- unpolished, unfinished, pretty blatant attempts to take a familiar name, slap it on some semblance of gameplay and make a few bucks from people buying something for the name on it. So don't read the rest of this post because you're thinking of buying any of these games -- even if you happen to be a Deadliest Catch or Man vs. Wild fan, there are better and more enjoyable ways to spend your time with the properties (like, you know, watching the shows, which are both pretty well done). Instead, read on about the three most awkward moments of my time spent in Crave's E3 booth.

  • Crave announces bowling for Natal

We're sorry if the above headline is misleading, but we feel we should inform you of two things. One, Crave has not announced a game show entitled "Bowling for Natal," so don't expect to see everyday schlubs competing for a Natal on daytime TV anytime soon. Two, what Crave has announced, according to Multiplayer, is a bowling game that will support Microsoft's Project Natal. More specifically, it's actually a Natal-ified version of Brunswick Pro Bowling, the PlayStation Move bowling title revealed earlier this year. While it was essentially inevitable that Natal would receive some kind of bowling game, we can't help but wonder how strange it will be to pretend to bowl without something to hold on to. If only there was some peripheral, something tangible we could use to enhance the experience. But wait, there is!

Sony has added two titles to the PlayStation Move's launch lineup that we haven't seen before. Not only will you be able to get your Move on in Slider, Sports Champions and all of the other announced launch titles, but we can now add Disney-Pixar's Toy Story 3 and Brunswick Pro Bowling into the mix as well. Toy Story 3 is of course a tie-in to the movie, and Brunswick is in there because you can't have a motion controller in 2010 without a bowling game attached. No seriously, you can't. Which is weird, because the future of gaming sure does look a lot like the 2007 of gaming. Only with better graphics. [Via PSLS]

You love licensed games, don't you? Of course you do! We had a chance to play Crave's upcoming games in a Pre-E3 media event. Games like Napoleon Dynamite and Crayola Adventures were on display, and we played every single thing we could grab our hands on. There was one good game on display ... but which one will it be? The George of the Jungle game ... or the spelling game? Read on to find out. Dave Mirra's BMX ChallengeWhat do you do when you create the worst PSP game of all time? You put it on Wii.%Gallery-4398%

  • PSP Fanboy attends Crave's Pre-E3 event

PSP Fanboy and Joystiq got its hands on a lot of different games at Crave's Pre-E3 event. Not many were good. In fact, many were downright terrible. Here's our impressions: Spelling Challenges and More!Honestly, this was the best game available at the event. And, it's not the best bad game. No, it's actually pretty good. Taking a page from Brain Age, this "learning" game has you participating in a spelling challenge. And more! There's hangman, and other language games that'll make your English teacher proud. The game is presented as a game show, and the host is a lot of fun. The game has a great progression in challenge, and its easy to navigate. The PSP version has audio definitions of words, which makes for a far more natural game (the DS version, instead, flashes the word quickly). This game is going to be a ton of fun for the casual market ... who knew spelling could be so entertaining?%Gallery-4404%

The only bowling games I've had fun with are Wii Bowling, Super Monkey Ball Monkey Bowling and Strip Bowling (whenever I can con desperate women into playing). I understand though that not everyone is like me and also none of those games are serious bowling titles. It's with that in mind that bowling fans can look forward to the just announced Brunswick Pro Bowling. To be published by budget game publisher Crave Entertainment, Brunswick Pro Bowling will have players work their way from amateur to professional bowler by competing in a simulated year's worth of tournaments through ten authentic recreations of actual Brunswick alleys. When not tearing up the professional league you can bowl against friends in multiplayer. Beyond ad hoc wireless multiplayer, the PSP version of Brunswick Pro Bowling will have character customization options so you can personalize your ball thrower. Whether this game is a strike or gutter ball will be determined when it hits store shelves later this year. [Via DCEmu]
