  • Payday: The Heist delayed to 'later this month'

Nobody likes to discover that Payday's been moved. The PSN release of Payday: The Heist, the co-op robbery game by Overkill Software, is the subject of a rare release-day delay, bumped from its original date of today to "later in October." According to Steam, the PC version is also due in "October." We suppose a game with this many masks just gravitates toward Halloween. Payday was to be the triumphant payoff of Sony's "PSN Play" promotion, and that offer is still in effect. If you've purchased all of the other PSN Play games, you'll still get your voucher for a free PS3 copy of the game.

  • Burgertime World Tour delayed for multiplayer testing

In the interest of making BurgerTime World Tour a more filling meal, publisher MonkeyPaw Games announced a delay of the downloadable reimagination of the Data East classic. Once announced for summer, it's staying in the kitchen until "a late October/early November date." MonkeyPaw said in a Facebook note that it wants BurgerTime World Tour to have "a fresh new multiplayer experience, including competitive online play and leaderboards." Features like these require a lot of QA, and therefore the publisher is holding off on the release until everything is stable. Then, of course, it has to work with Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo to figure out when they all want the game to go up on their respective storefronts. [Thanks, Steve.]

Originally set for release in October, King of Fighters 13 has been pushed back to November 22. To soften the blow, it also released a trailer that goes over a bunch of modes, and the new "NEOMAX" attacks.

  • Sprint's BlackBerry Curve 9350 will be delayed until October

Well, it looks as if Sprint's going to miss tomorrow's launch date for the BlackBerry Curve 9350. A representative of the Now Network confirmed the news to us today, stating that the phone will not arrive until next month due to "unexpected circumstances." While the company has yet to announce a new target date, the anonymous tipster who initially outed the story tells Phone Arena to expect an October 2nd arrival. Seeing that Sprint already sells two BlackBerry models that are appreciably better than the Curve 9350, we hope you won't lose sleep over the revelation. Still, if you've got a personal grudge against touchscreens, you'd best reset that countdown timer, starting... now.

  • BioWare delaying Star Wars: The Old Republic's European testing

International issues with Star Wars: The Old Republic started cropping up more or less as soon as the pre-order began, and they're apparently persisting. It's recently been officially announced that European testing invitations have been delayed, missing the initial weekend and being postponed for an unspecified length of time. Fortunately for the players who are no doubt sore over the delay, an explanation was included with the announcement, which kicks off by pointing out that a new build and an associated character wipe are on their way for later in the week anyway. The new build will require testers to re-download the entire client, and with the client requiring a 27 gig download, it was suspected that any players presently invited might finish the download only to have to start an entirely new download immediately afterward. Localized French and German versions of the game will be included in the new build, which further contributed to the decision to ultimately hold off on the European testing. It's cold comfort to would-be testers left out of the game, but at least it isn't without some logic.

  • BloodRayne Betrayal bumped up to September 7 on XBLA

A few weeks ago, Majesco told us that the XBLA release of BloodRayne: Betrayal had been pushed back to October 6. However, we've heard a new date from someone who ought to know: Rayne herself. The heroic dhampir (or perhaps a PR person under her name) tweeted that the game will be out on XBLA September 7, just one day after the PSN release. That's great news for XBLA users looking to blow up some fancy vampires with poisonous bites. It's slightly less great news for the PSN Play promotion, which loses the closest thing it had to a timed exclusive. You still get extra "gifts" with the PSN Play pre-order, though. [Thanks, sacra.]

  • Might & Magic Heroes VI delayed until October 13

Those eager to overthrow evil in a polite, turn-based manner will have to wait a bit longer before diving into Might & Magic Heroes VI. Posting on the game's official forums, Community Developer Irina Kassina has announced another delay for the role-playing strategy hybrid, this time lasting until October 13. Kassina explained that player feedback gathered during the beta, specifically relating to bugs and game balancing, highlighted the need for more development time. "Thus, we took the decision to delay the release of Might & Magic Heroes VI in order to secure a bit more time for the dev team to take into account your comments and deliver the best quality game," she wrote. The beta will begin a second phase with additional single- and multiplayer maps on August 16. If you've won a key through a community contest or pre-ordered the game, you'll be granted access to the latest round of testing. And just think of the power you'll have over us! Your glitch-detecting prowess could determine whether or not we write another post about this game being delayed.

  • Hamilton's Great Adventure (finally) coming to PSN August 23

You probably won't be surprised to hear that Fatshark's PSN explorer-and-bird treasure hunting expedition, Hamilton's Great Adventure, won't be arriving on time -- because "on time" would have been April and that deadline has passed. A subsequent July release date also sailed on by. Today, Fatshark announced a new release date, slyly blaming the delay on protagonist Ernest Hamilton taking five weeks of paid vacation. It'll now be released on August 23 in North America and August 24 in the rest of the world -- just in time to compete with Street Fighter 3. But if you don't want to wait, you can check out the PC version that came out in May.

  • BloodRayne XBLA delayed until Oct. 5, SF3 still on time [update]

We wondered whether the "PSN Play" promotion would lead to timed PS3 exclusivity for any of the games within, and our official answer at this point is "yes and no." BloodRayne Betrayal was originally due at the end of August on both PSN and XBLA; it's now due September 6 on PSN. Majesco informed Joystiq that the XBLA version has been bumped to October 5, though the publisher didn't say outright that the Sony deal was the reason. Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition, however, won't have its release date bumped on either platform as a result of the promotion. Capcom confirmed on Unity that the game is still set for August 23 on PSN and August 24 on XBLA. We have inquiries in with the rest of the PSN Play publishers, and we'll update when we hear back. Update: Sega tells Joystiq that Renegade Ops is still due for a multiplatform release in September.

  • Armored Core V's Japanese launch pushed back to January 2012

Originally planned for an October 20 launch in Japan, From Software's Armored Core V won't meet its scheduled date. The developer has announced the game has been pushed back until January 2012, following feedback from users who participated in a closed online beta recently. We've contacted Namco for clarification and to see how this news affects the launch here in the US. The good news, though, is that mech oil doesn't ever go bad, so you don't have to throw out that stockpile you've got going in your garage.

Whoops, looks like Driver: San Francisco didn't run the red light and is now delayed one week. Originally expected to reach stores on August 30, the shift-y racer will now arrive September 6. Ubisoft has also released a new video explaining the game's multiplayer features -- an experience that we've been pleasantly surprised with ever since our first test drive at E3. Check out the video above and see what could potentially be one of the most compelling multiplayer experiences of the year.

  • Dragon Age 2: Legacy DLC delayed on Euro PSN until Thursday

Can a small delay in action really ruin your desire to smite all the world's snarling things? After the Dragon Age 2: Legacy DLC failed to show up during the weekly European PlayStation Store update, Rob Bartel, a designer on BioWare's Live Team, addressed the fault on the official BioWare forums. "Apologies for the delay, everyone," he wrote. "We're still investigating why this has occurred but Sony Europe has confirmed that they will launch the Legacy DLC tomorrow morning. So hang tight, it will be available soon." If Bartel's information is accurate, "soon" is roughly equivalent to about 0.003 percent of a dragon age. Mind you, they probably didn't employ phrases such as "hang tight" during that time, unless it was meant as a parting insult at the gallows.

  • Rumor: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater 3D to be released in 2012

Rumors are circulating that the 3DS version of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will be released in 2012. Kotaku Australia reports that Konami confirmed the news directly, though the publisher provided no further information other than a 2012 release date. When approached for comment, Konami informed Joystiq that no North American launch date has been announced. At the Tokyo Game Show last year, Hideo Kojima announced a 2011 release for the game. If this latest news is true, it would seem the date applied only to Japan.

Eric Chahi's upcoming experiment in nature manipulation, From Dust, won't arrive on PCs until mid-August. The company confirmed as much to Joystiq this afternoon, specifically noting, "From Dust will hit XBLA this Wednesday and will release on PC on Wednesday, August 17." That's just three weeks until the game arrives on PC -- more than enough time to practice your lava redirection and bridge carving techniques with a mouse.

Hey, Jackie boy. The Darkness 2 has been delayed until 2012, with 2K Games announcing new launch dates for both the console and PC versions of February 7 and 10 for North America and Europe, respectively. The sequel was originally scheduled for this October. If you're attending Comic-Con in San Diego this weekend, there will be eight playable demo kiosks of The Darkness 2 at the Top Cow booth (#2629). There will also be a "Spreading The Darkness: From Comic Book to Video Games and Entertainment" panel on July 21 at noon in Room 9 of the convention center, featuring the co-creator of The Darkness comic, along with talent from the game. No word on whether or not the actual Darkness will show up and eviscerate the audience, but we're going to recommend keeping your distance just in case.

  • Splinter Cell HD now listed for September by retailers

The launch date for PS3's Splinter Cell Trilogy appears to have shifted once again, this time to September. Ubisoft told us in May that it didn't have a ship date for the title, but several major retailers listed an August launch at the time. The bundle had previously missed its appointed March and June launch dates. The latest release date of September 27 is now listed by the retail trinity of Amazon, GameStop and GameFly (which conveys only publisher-provided intel). We've contacted Ubisoft for an official sitrep on the Sam Fisher HD bundle. [Thanks, Josh]

  • Shinobi and Crush3D delay3D

Both of Sega's upcoming 3DS projects have been outfitted with new, later dates, according to a press release issued by Sega's European and American branches today. Griptonite Games' Shinobi update, initially due in September, will now be released on November 15. Crush3D, also originally to have been released in September, is now due February 21 of next year. This delay announcement confirms a statement given at a GamesIndustry.biz roundtable by Zoe Mode's Paul Mottram, who mentioned that "we had to delay the release of that because of the success of the platform." The solution to the problem of a platform that doesn't have enough games ... is to hold off on releasing games. Of course.

Your faith in the official North American release date for El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron is about to be shaken. Ignition Entertainment's New Business Development Director Shane Bettenhausen confirmed the shift in date from July 26 to August 16 in a statement to Joystiq, citing "unforeseen logistical issues." The September 1 release in Europe is still on track. Bettenhausen apologized for the "minor delay." Looking on the bright side (which is bright only for us), we suddenly find ourselves with much more time to complete our review, which is nice. For us.

Time is fluid, as we're reminded again by the announcement of Bloodrayne: Betrayal's late August launch. Originally expected for "early August," the game now has August 30 and 31 launch dates for PSN and XBLA, respectively. Developer WayForward has reimagined BloodRayne for the better, as we and the company recently detailed on The Joystiq Show. From what we've seen so far, this is a BloodRayne that doesn't suck.%Gallery-125881%

  • Samsung NC215S solar netbook delayed, won't see sunlight until August

Well, that didn't take long. The sun's only set once since we reported Samsung's solar NC215S netbook was up for pre-order and we're already getting word that it's been delayed. Despite earlier estimates of a July 3rd US shipping date, Liliputing is now saying that the solar-powered laptop won't make it to consumers until sometime in mid to late August, due to hold ups involving the machine's custom panels. Here's hoping this doesn't spoil anyone's plans to journey out of the house this summer.
