360 DVD firmware hack now hits Hitachi drives [update 1]
The firmware hack that was revealed back in March has a new target. Previously the hack could only be executed on 360 units containing a Samsung DVD drive, while the new hack works on 360s containing the Hitachi-LG drive as well. While I personally don't condone this practice (developers work hard for their money), it should be available now. For the less ethically inclined among you, keep this in mind: using this hack will void your warranty and likely get you banned from Live. There's even the possibility that future dashboard updates could brick a hacked console entirely. Don't say we didn't warn you. Update: contributor AoE has pointed out -- rather snarkily -- that this firmware hack is only for 360s with a Hitachi-LG drive. [Via Xboxic]
