Any gamer can benefit from a good headset, whether to stay in clear contact with their teammates during an intense raid or to keep the noise down while their spouse is asleep. But some cans are loud in a different way, boasting garish designs or cheap plastic builds that you might not feel comfortable wearing outside your home. Newcomers like LucidSound have taken a stab at building headgear on the more stylish side, but now industry vet SteelSeries enters the arena with its own line of fashionable gaming headsets.

These past few years, Logitech's been branching out into "serious" gaming gear with its G series, to better compete with companies like SteelSeries and Corsair. However, Logitech is still best known for simple computer peripherals that most people would keep in their office or den. The company is aiming to bridge these two worlds with its new line of Prodigy gaming gear coming out this month. The products offer enough of a performance boost to please many hardcore players, but their look and price could make a few converts of people who wouldn't normally consider themselves gamers.

There's nothing like spending a little time in Japan for expanding your gaming collection, as reader Manuel learned firsthand. He told us he spent ten weeks there a couple of years back, and he found himself in gaming heaven -- loads of nifty, cheap items just itching to be smuggled away under cover of night. Okay, that part probably wasn't necessary (also, we made it up), but everyone needs a little excitement in their life, right? It was the prices that enchanted Manuel as much as the availability, he says. The most expensive item in these pictures was a brand-new N64 for just ¥1980 -- only sixteen dollars under current exchange rates -- and the cheapest were as low as ¥20, which translates to about seventeen cents. That's an irresistible bargain for even the most frugal gamer! No wonder he started piling things up! Got some interesting gaming swag you want to show off? We'd love to see it! Just take some pictures and send them to showmeit [at] dsfanboy [dot] com. We'll take care of the rest.%Gallery-5051%

If you're here, then it's pretty likely that you own some sort of gaming gear ... and some of you are probably masters of epic gaming collections, the sight of which would burn our retinas to ash. While we're not really coming out in favor of melted eyeballs here, we are in fact big fans of playing show and tell with our gaming stuff, and we want to see yours. T-shirts, plush armies, special gaming area, stacks and stacks of NES carts, or just a staggering pile of DS games -- whatever it is, we want you to show us. So if you have anything special that you've just been dying to rub in our faces show everyone, then this weekly spotlight is for you. Yes, you can even show us your Pokemans. So you want to be featured on DS Fanboy? Here's what you do: take a picture or two (we prefer that they not be blurry) and send the lot to showmeit at dsfanboy dot com. Each week, we'll select someone's gaming gear and talk about it right here on the Fanboy. Pretty much anything gaming-related is fair game, but we do ask that you keep it clean. You know. For the children.
