Just as was rumored months ago, Ted "The Nuge" Nugent will be gracing the setlist of Guitar Hero: World Tour and be featured as an in-game likeness.Activision just announced that rocker, hunter and gun lover Ted Nugent will be featured in World Tour as a guitar battle, using both his likeness and his eight minute track "Stranglehold". Here at Fanboy Towers, we've already discussed in length the topic of Ted Nugent in World Tour and decided that his inclusion in the game would not be acceptable UNLESS he strums on a custom gun shaped guitar that shoots flames from its barrel. We'd also be fine with an unlockable version.[Via Press Release]

Activision has announced that well-known artists Sting and Tool will appear in Guitar Hero World Tour. Sting will be available as a selectable character in the vocal career mode. He will also appear in the game to perform The Police's "Demolition Man." Activision also announced that popular rock group (and makers of scary music videos) Tool will lend three songs to the game, "Parabola" and "Schism" from the album Lataralus along with "Vicarious" from 10,000 Days. In addition to contributing these tracks, Tool will also help design a venue for the game "highlighting the art style that has become a staple in their music videos, live shows and album artwork." So, in other words, it should be the freakiest venue ever, right?[Thanks, Willenholly]

Activision just scored a major win in the battle of music genre video game supremecy by securing music from Ozzy Osbourne and other OZZFest bands for inclusion in Guitar Hero: World Tour. There's a bunch of World Tour announcements, so let's just jump right in.Newly confirmed music to be included as part of World Tour's ever expanding setlist is Ozzy's "Crazy Train" and "Mr. Crowley" as well as OZZFest inspired music including Black Label Society's "Stillborn", Metallica's "Trapped Under Ice" and System of a Down's "B.Y.O.B." On top of that, we know that both Ozzy and Zakk Wylde will be featured in the game and so will OZZFest, as a venue, of course. Finally, seven new (non OZZFest inspired) World Tour tracks were announced, pushing up the total list of confirmed World Tour tracks to 23. Make your way towards the break to get learned.

We hope you weren't excited by the supposed Guitar Hero World Tour set list that was 'leaked' yesterday. Activision and Red Octane have made it known that the list, which included artists like Tool and The Doors, is a fake. A representative informed Game Informer (see what we did there?) that while some of the songs on the list will make it into the game, namely Van Halen's "Hot for Teacher," the majority of the list is "wishful thinking and pure speculation."But hey, we know it will have "Hot for Teacher," right? That counts for something. Now all we have to do is get Activision to confirm the rest of the set list ... one song at a time.[Via Joystiq]

We hope you didn't get your hopes up regarding Guitar Hero World Tour's hypothetical set list, which included songs from such bands as REO Speedwagon, Rob Zombie, and whole lot of Tool. Game Informer reports that both Activision and Red Octane have come forward, denouncing the list as a fraud. While some of the tracks listed will make it into the game, such as Van Halen's Hot for Teacher, the report calls the lion's share of the list "wishful thinking and pure speculation." We're sorry Tool fans, but you'll have to get your progressive rock fix somewhere else.

Coming by way of a post over on Gamespot's Gamefaqs forums is a supposed complete list of all the tracks to to be included in Guitar Hero World Tour's setlist. But with absolutely no explanation where the list came from or how it was discovered, we have no choice but to be very, very skeptical. The rumored to be complete setlist (viewable after the break) includes some 73 main songs, 14 bonus tracks, 7 sample songs and 3 guitar battles against Ted Nugent, Zakk Wylde and Sting. Also, if this list turns out to be true, let us be the first to show our excitement for Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama". We sing that song daily while we chow down on breakfast in the morning and we don't even live in Alabama.

Our sinister taskmasters over at Joystiq managed to nab the very first screens of Guitar Hero: World Tour, and now, dear fanboys and fangirls, we bring them to you. Glancing through the images, we get the first look at the game's create-a-track mode (which honestly looks a little intimidating) as well as the character creation mode and some in-game performance shots. As Joystiq notes, it appears that World Tour will abandon the over-the-top cartoon style of previous iterations (as well as the upcoming Aerosmith version) in favor of a more realistic, though still stylized look. Check out all the shots in the gallery below. Will Guitar Hero: World Tour find a home in your collection, or are you waiting to see what Harmonix cooks up for the next Rock Band?
