Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-'s Limited Edition detailed
North American Guilty Gear fans can spend anywhere from $50 to $80 on the incoming Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- (pronunciation help here), depending on how many real-world trinkets they'd like and the console they intend to drain life meters on. As preorder pages from Amazon dictate, a Standard Edition copy of Xrd -SIGN- on PS3 will go for $50, with its PS4 counterpart running for $60. Xrd -SIGN-'s North American-exclusive Limited Edition will follow the same pattern, with the PS3 version costing $70 and the PS4 build pulling off an $80 combo on wallets. As for what makes the Limited Edition so special, a press release from publisher Aksys notes the bonuses of an outer box styled after the series' Backyard, complete with "gears and high-quality binding," a soundtrack arranged by series creator Daisuke Ishiwatari, and a roster-encompassing art book that also includes work for Gear XX Accent Core Plus and Guilty Gear 2 Overture. A keychain replica of Sol's belt buckle with the word "Free" carved in rounds out the offering. Though preorders are live, the press release only offers up a holiday season launch window, so we'll have to wait a little longer to learn when exactly it'll be time to rock. Regardless of which version you purchase however, Xrd -SIGN-'s crossplay compatibility means PS3 and PS4 owners will eventually all be fighting in the same community. [Image: Aksys Games]
Thomas Schulenberg09.13.2014Guilty Gear XX #Reload brings the fight to Steam in September
Publisher Kiss Ltd. have revealed plans to release Arc System Works' 2D fighter Guilty Gear XX #Reload on Steam. While this is a very delayed port - Guilty Gear XX #Reload originally reached consoles in 2004, and even saw a PC release in 2005 - it's still a welcome addition to Steam, where 2D fighters are at a premium, and the only other representative from Arc System Works' long-running Guilty Gear series is 2003's Guilty Gear Isuka. Happily, XX #Reload is one of the better entries in the franchise, as it builds on the strengths of Guilty Gear XX while adding additional content and tweaking a handful of minor issues. Kiss Ltd. has yet to reveal a price point for Guilty Gear XX #Reload and it's unknown if the Steam version of the game includes any additional updates, but we can tell you that the game will be available for download on September 5. Earnest Cavalli08.19.2014How to pronounce 'Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-'
Unless you've got a baffling grasp of phonetics, you're likely having trouble pronouncing the title of the latest entry in Arc System Works' Guilty Gear franchise, Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-. Fortunately, we're here to help. According to chief creative officer Daisuke Ishiwatari (via translator), the title is pronounced exactly as you read it. The "Xrd" bit is properly pronounced "ecks-erd," and the remaining bits of the title are pretty self explanatory. [Image: Aksys Games]
Earnest Cavalli06.11.2014Report: Guilty Gear Xrd Sign boasts PS3, PS4 cross-play
The next entry in Arc System Works' Guilty Gear franchise, dubbed Guilty Gear Xrd Sign, will allow PlayStation 3 players to throw down against those on PlayStation 4, according to the latest issue of Famitsu (courtesy Siliconera translation). Those unable to follow the labyrinthine naming structure Arc System Works uses for the Guilty Gear games should know that Guilty Gear Xrd Sign is the fifth official installment in the series, and ninth overall. Unlike 2007's Guilty Gear 2: Overture, Guilty Gear Xrd Sign features three-dimensional characters duking it out on a 2D plane, not unlike Capcom's various Street Fighter 4 iterations. Unfortunately for fans of Arc System Works' gorgeous 2D sprite animation, that's not the only trick Guilty Gear Xrd Sign borrows from Street Fighter 4, as the game will ditch hard-drawn graphics in favor of cel-shaded 3D models. Further information from this week's Famitsu report includes the comforting news that the PlayStation 4 incarnation of Guilty Gear Xrd Sign will run at 1080p resolution. Arc System Works also plans to add new, exclusive characters to the console version of Guilty Gear Xrd Sign, though there's no word on how many polygonal pugilists will join the fight. As we recently mentioned, Guilty Gear Xrd Sign is slated to hit both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in North America at some point this Fall. [Image: Arc System Works]
Earnest Cavalli06.03.2014Guilty Gear Xrd SIGN announced at Arc System Works festival
Arc System Works announced Guilty Gear Xrd SIGN at its 25th anniversary festival in Yokohama, Japan today. While there are no details yet on what platforms the arcade fighter will appear on, the developer uploaded an introductory trailer to its YouTube channel. The trailer features a battle between series mainstays Sol Badguy and Ky Kiske. Guilty Gear Xrd SIGN will, once again, be directed by Daisuke Ishiwatari, who also composed the song heard in the trailer. The video shows that the game will run on the Unreal engine and won't use sprites, a first for the developer. Additionally, while the character shown at the end seems to be Milla Rage, the character briefly reflected in her eyes appears to be Eddie/Zato-1. [Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

Jordan Mallory05.11.2013PSA: No online play for Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R on Vita
Reaching out and punching someone through the internet isn't an option in the PlayStation Vita version of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, despite conflicting assertions by an official trailer that has since been pulled.Developer Arc System Works apologized for the misunderstanding on its official North American Twitter account, saying that "contrary to what's on the trailer," Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R is only equipped with local multiplayer options. No explanation was given for why this feature has been omitted, considering that the PlayStation 3 version features online play, though a brief explanation was given for the erroneous trailer: "We'll chalk this one up to the language barrier."
Jordan Mallory04.24.2013Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R brings verbose battles to Vita April 23
The PlayStation Vita version of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, which itself is the portable version of the arcade version of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus, will hit the PlayStation Network in North America on Tuesday, April 23. We know because a picture of a shoe announced it via Arc System Work's official Twitter account. While official pricing has yet to be announced, it may be in line with the PlayStation 3 version's $14.99 price tag. Maybe that information is on the other shoe?
Jordan Mallory04.11.2013Guilty Gear hits XBLA next week, Arkham City on sale this week
Surprise! Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus is coming to Xbox Live in North America on October 24. JC Fletcher10.16.2012Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R coming to Japanese Vitas in 2013
Either Arc System Works is reinvigorating the public's awareness of its Guilty Gear brand for some nefarious purpose, or someone over there must have started reading all of my letters. At any rate, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R will be coming to the PlayStation Vita sometime in 2013.Not to be confused with Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus, which is coming to Japanese PS3 and XBLA sometime this October, Accent Core Plus R is the revised version of Accent Core Plus will hit Japanese arcades near the end of this month.I played a quick round of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R while visiting Arc System Works' booth at the Tokyo Game Show and am thrilled to report that the port feels very solid. Framerates were consistent and my old Sol Badguy bread-and-butter combos came off without a hitch. As is the case with Guilty Gear announcements these days, no information was available regarding a North American launch. Time to write another letter, I guess.%Gallery-166132%

Jordan Mallory09.20.2012Rampant Speculation Theatre presents: 'Xblaze' announced by Arc System Works
Arc System Works, the development house responsible for the Guilty Gear and BlazBlue series of fighting games, has announced the first entry in what it mysteriously refers to as its "Adventure Project." The game, Xblaze, will be released this fall on unknown platforms in unknown regions, and may tie in with the BlazBlue universe/mythos. No further information is yet available, so at this point the game could be virtually anything. In true Rampant Speculation Theatre fashion, our hastily concocted educated guess is as follows: It will be revealed that the "X" in Xblaze is actually pronounced "cross," ala Street Fighter X Tekken. Yes, Xblaze will be the first cross-over fighting game ever to cross over with itself, pitting characters from BlazBlue against characters from, uh, Blazblue.
Jordan Mallory03.24.2012Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus coming to XBLA and PSN
One of the most technically demanding fighting games ever created is on its way back, no longer doomed to toil in irrelevant obscurity while its younger brother masquerades in its clothes.Testament, Sol, Kai, Dizzy and the rest of the musically inspired cast of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus are all headed to the welcoming arms of XBLA and PSN, according to Arc System Works. Like other XBLA/PSN re-releases, GGXXACP will feature netplay, though whether that will be done in-house or powered by an external service like GGPO remains to be seen. No word yet on pricing or a release date, but we're willing to accept anything up to and including a crapdillion dollars, just so long as the launch happens before we die.Not to be confused with Guilty Gear XX Accent Core, Guilty Gear XX Slash, Guilty Gear XX #Reload or Guilty Gear XX: The Midnight Carnival, Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus was the final version of Guilty Gear XX, released way back in 2008 on the PS2 and Wii. The XBLA/PSN port follows an announcement that Arc System Works will be producing the very first arcade versions of the game; hopefully this ramp-up in Guilty Gear goodness is a sign of things to come.
Jordan Mallory02.17.2012Guilty Gear Isuka downloadable through DotEmu
Grab some friends this weekend, and indulge in a little (virtual) four-player combat on the cheap. Retro game publisher DotEmu -- the company behind the iPad version of Another World -- just added the two-on-two fighter Guilty Gear Isuka to its DRM-free download shop, for $6.
JC Fletcher04.23.2011DSiWare's Furo Jump: Guilty Gear Gaiden claims the 'weirdest Guilty Gear game' prize
Okay, so it was pretty odd when Guilty Gear 2: Overture turned out not to be a 2D fighter, but a 3D action game with strategy elements. That was nothing compared to Furo Jump!!: Guilty Gear Gaiden!? for DSiWare. Furo Jump (literally Bath Jump) stars Chimaki, a hidden character from Guilty Gear 2, in a quest to visit a hot spring for relief from back pain. To get to his dream bath, Chimaki must spin on a bar of soap and whip a towel at pink elephants. Sounds totally like Guilty Gear to us, right? Furo Jump will make its splash on Japanese DSiWare September 1 for 500 DSi Points. Head past the break for the trailer with the world's most annoying narration. You can also play a Furo Jump Flash minigame here.
JC Fletcher08.26.2010Arc System Works has 'full intention' of doing Guilty Gear on 360, PS3
Arc System Works has built a legacy of fighting games with its Guilty Gear franchise. Recently, the company introduced a new fighting franchise in BlazBlue, and even though it was very well-received -- it's almost at a 90 on Metacritic and we certainly enjoyed it -- fight fans want to know when they'll get more Guilty Gear. Well, based on comments made by series producer/creator Daisuke Ishiwatari to NowGamer, an Xbox 360 and PS3 installment may already be under consideration. "I have the full intention to create Guilty Gear for PS3 and 360." Ishiwatari said. There was even some talk of a BlazBlue/Guilty Gear crossover, though Arc System Works business development director Tomo Ohno avoided any definitive commitments. "BlazBlue is a new thing, and there might be some crossover but at the moment we don't have any plans." [Via Kotaku]
David Hinkle12.30.2009BlazBlue confirmed for North America summer release
With its global online support, we expected that Arc System Works' console port of arcade brawler BlazBlue would eventually be released outside of Japan. Now niche publisher Aksys has quietly revealed plans to bring the elegant 2D fighter to North America for both the Xbox 360 and PS3. Like their counterparts in Japan, fighting game fans in North America can look forward to mastering super moves and combos this summer, as players beat the heat by staying indoors away from bears and tiresome physical activity. With King of Fighters XII slated for a July release as well, the only question we're left with is: How will our hands survive? [Thanks, Nick]
Jason Dobson03.06.2009BlazBlue throws a beatdown on PS3, Xbox 360
Arc System Works, the folks behind popular 2D fighting franchise Guilty Gear, are planning on bringing their high-def 2D fighter, BlazBlue, to the Xbox 360 and PS3 IGN reports. Currently only available in Japanese arcades, the title is being ported to home consoles in the region, with release aimed at this summer. Notable additions to the console port include a story mode, with individual stories for each character available. This story mode will offer branching storylines based on the battles you win, as well as the choices you make while playing. Director Toshimichi Mori says the story mode easily offers 30 hours of gameplay. On top of that, gamers can look forward to online support for battling folks around the globe, as well as DLC, which Arc has planned, yet no specific items were mentioned. The console version of the game will also provide all characters with Astral Heat special moves, which were only given to a select few boss characters in the arcade version of the game.
