The Road to Mordor: Bits 'n' pieces
Three wolves. A full moon. One incredible cloak in the Lord of the Rings Online store. As a forum poster asked, is the Cloak of the Mountain Wolves too powerful and too intrinsically sweet? I think it is a distinct possibility. I already own six and have Sauron on farm status because of them. Forget piddly rings -- this is the one cloak to rule them all, and in the darkness, blind them. I'm a bit all over the place in today's column, so bear with me as I spew forth a 427-line stream-of-consciousness poem devoted to Aragorn's stubble. You totally know you want to hit the jump to read it. I triple-dog-dare ya. [Editor -- No, Justin, you have to write a normal column. Don't make me get the fire hose.] Darn.
Frolicking in Freeport: EverQuest II's city festival features fun and finery
It may be the evilest city of them all, but that doesn't mean that EverQuest II's Freeport can't cut loose and have a good time now and then. For the duration of this week (November 1st through 7th), the city festival has moved to Freeport, and players are encouraged to head on over and pay their respects to the Overlord. The city festival is a roaming monthly event in EQII that features a different one of the six capitals, wherein players can complete repeatable quests and hand in city writs to collect the cleverly-named city tokens. Said tokens are then taken to a midway and spent on Skeeball -- or, in a more truthful sense, they are exchanged for unique house decorations. Freeport is featuring a special lamppost, display counter and a carved door for collectors. Players are also welcome to snag one of the six winning paintings from last month's Oktoberfest Forum Challenge. Winners of the contest had their screenshots immortalized as an in-game painting. Housing is one of EQII's crown jewels, so this is a great opportunity to deck out your pad!

SOE's Legends of Norrath trading card game just introduced it's 3rd set, dubbed Inquisitor. You've probably heard about all the new gameplay features it adds to the game, but let's face it, many players are just interested in the loot cards. These are special cards randomly mixed into packs that can be redeemed for in-game items in either EverQuest or EverQuest II. Items like unique mounts, non-combat pets, housing decorations and more.Just in time for this weekend's tournament, SOE provided us with exclusive screenshots of what many of these items look like. LotRO introduces Player and Guild Housing
The Book 11 content update for Lord of the Rings Online introduces more than Gollum's first appearance, a Balrog to slay and class revamps for Minstrels and Lore-masters. It also introduces player and guild housing in a unique way.There are four different racially-styled homesteads. The architecture, neighborhood and decorations are unique to each. But players are not restricted to only buying property sold by their own race. Elves can move into the Dwarven cave-like housing and Men can squeeze into Hobbit holes.There are many kinds of housing available, including 16 different styles of personal housing, 10 more styles for the deluxe housing and 4 different styles for guild housing. Each neighborhood has a mix of two dozen or so housing types. Every time all the houses are purchased, a new instance is created with all nebw housing for sale.
