Microsoft's Xbox One console rolls out in 28 new regions this month, but some buyers are reporting missing marketplace content and deactivated dashboard features, according to an EventHubs investigation. Console owner Simon Lundmark at DarkZero claims that "voice commands are entirely absent from the Swedish Xbox One UI," and reports that many games and add-on content packs are missing from its regional marketplace. Super Time Force, Contrast and Powerstar Golf are currently unavailable in Sweden and other "Tier 2" countries receiving the Xbox One this month. Players in the Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, and the UK also report that Killer Instinct is missing its Ultra Edition content, including a bundled port of the original Killer Instinct arcade game. Joystiq contacted Microsoft for comment regarding the reported issues, and received confirmation that some regions currently lack support for Kinect voice commands. "Fans in 18 of our new launch markets are able to turn on voice controls using existing voice models for English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese, depending on their market," a Microsoft spokesperson said. The statement continued: "In Sweden specifically, fans can enjoy a fully localized experience on the dash, but do not have access to voice controls at launch. Enabling voice is a significant endeavor as there are many complexities associated with delivering a great voice experience in various languages around the world. We're working hard to add more features but have no additional details to share at this time." [Image: Microsoft]

  • Dead Space 3 scares up Kinect voice commands on Xbox 360

During an EA showcase last week, Dead Space 3 executive producer Steve Papoutsis took to the stage to introduce Kinect voice commands for the Xbox 360 version. For example, Isaac and Carver can share items with each other when the player says things like "give Stasis" or "share ammo."EA also had a small room to test out the Kinect functionality, a place I accidentally discovered the best use of the feature: couch co-op. A PR representative was there to supervise and offer help, but she ended up healing me and forcing Isaac to share resources while I concentrated on fighting Necromorphs. It was an interesting and, to be honest, incredibly useful union.Sadly the demo itself was no more than 10 minutes, if that – so there wasn't really anything exciting going on content-wise. But for those who may be more content to watch a pal play Dead Space 3 on Xbox 360 rather than pick up the sticks themselves, they can still have a positive impact if there's a Kinect in the room.%Gallery-173241%

  • NBA 2K13 hits the hardwood with Kinect, PS Move rides the bench

During a demo of NBA 2K13 yesterday, 2K Sports representatives showed off a new feature exclusive to the Xbox 360 version of NBA 2K13: Kinect voice commands. These commands can be used for simple things like telling a player to move to the post, as well as more advanced commands like calling isolation plays for specific ballers. Cursing at Kinect is a feature, but it'll net you a foul in-game.The Kinect features will only be available when playing against the AI in NBA 2K13 – no Kinect voice commands in online and local multiplayer. 2K Games reps said that it didn't make sense from both a technological and gameplay standpoint. In local multiplayer, there'd be no way to determine who is who; using Kinect voice commands online would bog down the experience in needless lag.As for PS Move support on the PS3, 2K Games reps told me that feature would not make a return this year. PS Move support made its debut in NBA 2K12, unveiled by none other than Kobe Bryant during an E3 2011 presentation.%Gallery-162192%
