We love Kirby. We can't help it; he's just a big ol' pink puffball full of love (and often, whatever is around). We're usually not in favor of beating on Kirby, but when it's for a good cause, we can get behind the idea. Also? When beating on Kirby can give us delicious candy. Reader Mr Khan sent us in these pictures of the Kirby piñata he and some others made over the holidays for a few lucky second graders. Their assignment (which they clearly chose to accept) was to design a piñata around a balloon. What's round and full of fun? The only obvious answer was Kirby. We approve.Remember, if you have something to show off, we're interested! From crafts to cakes to collections ... whatever you've got, if it has a little Nintendo flavor, we want to see it. Just take some pictures (or copy your web album links) and send them to showmeit [at] dsfanboy [dot] com. We'll take care of the rest.

There's a bumper Kirby update over at the dojo today, dealing entirely with the pink blob's "Inhale" move, a maneuver that allows Kirby to assume the identity and abilities of his foes by swallowing them whole. The gelatinous one already has one of our favorite Final Smashes, and his patented special move looks every bit as excellent as that. Don't believe us? Just check out Solid Kirby! Or Samus Kirby! Or Bowser Kirby! Or heck, just check 'em all out.%Gallery-10206%%Gallery-6869%

  • Nintendo: no plans for a Kirby Wii title

Despite Kirby's prominent appearance in the Wii's megaton title Smash Smash Bros. Brawl, Nintendo has no plans of giving the little pink vacuum cleaner his own game on the console, according to the UK's Official Nintendo Magazine. In the magazine's Q&A section, Nintendo's official response is: "There are no plans right now for a Kirby game on Wii but there are plenty of Kirby fans out there, so in the meantime look out for Kirby in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl which will be released in 2008."Though Kirby has always been best suited to 2D side-scrolling adventures, we're still a bit disappointed that Nintendo isn't considering any Wii love for the squishy mascot. We can't think of any clever waggle functionality, but wouldn't it just be fun to turn the Wii-mote on its side and let Kirby run free in a 2.5D adventure?[Via Wii Fanboy]

At least, that's the statement that the UK's Official Nintendo Magazine is giving. When questioned about a possible upcoming Kirby game in the "Ask Nintendo" section of the latest issue, the magazine responded, "There are no plans right now for a Kirby game on Wii but there are plenty of Kirby fans out there, so in the meantime look out for Kirby in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Brawl which will be released in 2008."Well, it doesn't look good, Kirby fans. Hopefully Brawl will be enough to ease some of your cravings for the little pink puffball, but we all know it ain't nothing like the real thing, baby.

  • Dojo update: Dedede sends out the troops

Some of the Final Smash maneuvers showcased so far on the dojo have looked devastating -- maybe too devastating in some cases -- but how about sending an entire army to do your bidding? How about sending the Waddle Dee Army? Scared yet, punk?Well, get used to it, because that's essentially the Final Smash of Kirby nemesis King Dedede, who peppers the level with Waddle Dees (in Kirby games, these are the equivalent of Goombas). Not just the bog-standard Waddle Dees that he chucks about most of the time, either -- these are faster than your common or garden Waddle Dee, and can easily sweep you clean off the stage. And just for good measure, there's also the odd Gordos hidden in there.%Gallery-10206%%Gallery-6869%

If you don't love Kirby, really, you're in the wrong place. The pink puff is not only adorable, but quite capable of kicking your ass, which makes him the ultimate in versatility. Thanks to Etsy seller bettydeath, he's now on a patch as well, along with Meta Knight. Though, are we alone in worrying that Kirby might just inhale the iron while we're affixing him to some sort of fabric? We're pretty fond of that iron ....

  • MIDI + art + game songs = <3

Some awesome soul has taken it about himself to make visually enhanced game tunes, and the result is nothing short of spectacular. Using a program called Music Animation Machine MIDI Player, which converts the musical notes of MIDI songs into art, the creator of these videos has managed to blow our minds. Sure, we always enjoy it when musical sounds are synthesized with visual imagery, but when some of our favorite songs are involved, it just makes it that much better. We decided to put the Mega Man 2 "Dr. Wily Stage 1" song up top to celebrate Rock Man's 20th anniversary, and well, because it's our favorite. If you don't look after the break to check out the equally awesome Final Fantasy IV, Kirby, Mario, and other tunes, though, you officially fail at the internet.

As we imagined, today's dojo update follows up yesterday's news of a new character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl in King Dedede. And, being the king of Dream Land, you can imagine what he has at his disposal. Aside from the devastating attack you see above, he can also toss around some of his minions to aid him in battle, as well as the ability to charge up his hammer to really knock some heads. We'd be lying if we didn't say King Dedede wasn't looking awfully tough.%Gallery-6869%%Gallery-3347%

Today's dojo update is a huge one, as a new playable character is revealed in King Dedede. He's a big mofo with a hammer, so what's not to love? It'll be nice to have a new heavy hitter to take against DK and Bowser, that's for sure.Yesterday's update involved a look at the Target Smash mode, which consists of five different levels. The neat thing is that you can record replay data and send it to your friends over Wi-Fi.%Gallery-6869%%Gallery-3347%Read - King Dedede Read - Target Smash![Thanks to everyone that sent this in!]

  • King Dedede joins the Smash Bros Brawl cast

Warning! Challenger approaching! Every time we pop onto the Smash Bros Brawl website and see those words, our hearts go all a-flutter. This morning, the new competitor in the ever-growing Brawl cast is King Dedede, Kirby's recurring nemesis going all the way back to the original Kirby's Dream Land on the Game Boy.King Dedede is an addition to the "heavyweight" ranks of Brawl, joining Donkey Kong and Bowser as a slow, but powerful character. He sports a brutal hammer, a big belly, and -- we're crossing our fingers -- hopefully the ability to echo Kirby's most famous move by inhaling and shooting out his enemies, in a manner reminiscent of his boss battles. This brings the number of Kirby characters in Nintendo's fighter up from a meager one in Melee to an impressive three. Could other lonely franchise characters be receiving the same treatment?

  • Kirby Super Star coming to DS

Before mini-game compilations were crazy ubiquitous, there was Kirby Super Star. Released at the tail-end of the SNES's lifetime, Super Star advertised "8 Games In One!", one of which being a graphically enhanced version of the Game Boy original, and four more being full-fledged platformers in their own right. Now, HAL Laboratories are bringing the Kirby party to the DS, with a remake of the SNES classic tentatively called Hoshi no Kirby Ultra Super Deluxe. No details yet on any additional features, but our buddies over at DS Fanboy have aptly observed that a wireless icon in one of the screens means that the game will at least have local wireless play, and additional screenshots show cutscenes in the same style as HAL's fighting phenomenon Super Smash Bros. Brawl. More details as they become available. For now, though, color us excited.Update: Additional screens found at Jeux France show that this game is a remake, and not a true sequel. Thanks to reader Sonicandtails for the tip.%Gallery-8475%[Via DS Fanboy]

Kirby Super Star on the SNES (Hoshi no Kirby Super Deluxe in Japan) is one of the few minigame compilations that can be called "beloved." In a move that is only shocking in regards to how long it took, Nintendo has announced a sequel, called Hoshi no Kirby Ultra Super Deluxe. The few screenshots we have reveal the return of the "Gourmet Race" event from the previous game (race against King Dedede in both speed and amount of food eaten), the "Spring Breeze" adventure mode, and what looks like a "Great Cave Offensive" style treasure-collecting game. In addition, a wireless connection icon is visible, meaning that wireless multiplayer (though not necessarily Wi-Fi) will be enabled.%Gallery-8402%

  • Dojo update: Kirby's cooking up a Final Smash

    10.09.2007

Kirby's cooking up trouble, as his Final Smash is revealed over at the dojo today. As you might have already seen in trailers for the game, Kirby's Final Smash involves cooking up his competition so that he may devour them. Kirby, the sick ball of pink that he is, has an insatiable appetite and will eat any and all, so it's only natural his Final Smash reflects that. Our only question is how do you get your opponents into the pot? Or, is it basically automatic? Since it appears most other Final Smashes actually allow the player to control the character while performing the maneuver. we're just wondering.%Gallery-6869%%Gallery-3347%

While we would've liked some better snapshots of the limited edition DS Lite, we're still drooling at this simple, yet sleek handheld. What makes things even worse is that we weren't even able to bid on the item, as its time on the auction block has come and gone. Made for the Australian market, according to the seller only 40 of them are even in existence in the country.[Via Albotas; Thanks to everyone that sent this in!]

Ah, the mashup scene of 2004. It was a glorious Summer in which we'd fight through San Francisco traffic every Thursday night on our way to Popscene whilst rocking out to a Sixx Mixx in our too-tight pants. Not to say the mashup scene is dead, it's just that we only ever get excited when it's one, big joke. Sort of like our crotch destroying pants."Snoop Dogg's Dreamland" was originally conceived by YTMND user barf and has since evolved into something much more sinister. As with every great idea their think tank comes up with, it was then lifted and uploaded to YouTube where GameVideos found it and popped it into our RSS feeder. That, dear readers, is how these tubes make communication possible. Please be aware that the video is not safe for work due to language.

As if last week wasn't enough pain and suffering, this week has just doubled it. Multiple times did we upload the file to YouTube, in its native AVI state, only to have a file with sound, yet no video, returned to us. Then, we decided to convert the file from AVI to WMV, but, again, we only got back a file of sound, no video. And, as we sat defeated and drained, none other than new recruit Mike Sylvester walked in and showed us how to fix it. Without him, we are lost. So, everyone thank Mike for making this week's video possible and be sure to head past the post break for the usual.

With the focus being on Samus this week at the dojo, it's refreshing to see something else presented. What we can't wrap our head around, however, is exactly what this new update presents. It speaks of another world, where trophies live to battle each other, along with the looming danger presented by breaking the rules of engagement in this world. Our tipster suggested this will have something to do with online play for the game, however we think differently. It's probably just a first look at the game's story, along with a first glance at the game's main bad guy. Check out all of the images of the update in our gallery below.%Gallery-3347%[Thanks, Ryan!]

Okay, we admit it. We're cheating a little. Instead of letting someone come to us with their nifty gaming goodness, we saw something that was simply so awesome we had to ask if we could share it with you ... and luckily, NeoGAFfer cloudwalking had no problem with us showing off this incredible cake. Hey, if it was ours, we'd want to show the world as well!Birthday girl cloudwalking's good pal jarosh had this Kirby cake made, but the fun didn't stop there. As he was slowly dismembered devoured, the pair had fun changing his features around, as you can see in the gallery ... though the reddish filling on the knife is a little disturbing. Poor Kirby! We're not sure we could have made ourselves eat the little guy. Then again, it could be revenge for the times we've been inhaled in various Smash Bros. matches. Can you top a nummy Kirby cake? If so -- or if you have anything else you want to show off -- you too can be in this spot, with everyone cooing over your awesome stuff. Just take some pictures and send them to showmeit at dsfanboy dot com. We'll take care of the rest.%Gallery-4771%
