WoW Moviewatch: An Inconvenient Expansion
Today's machinima from Lagspike Films is one you've probably seen before. Released just a few weeks before the launch of Cataclysm, An Inconvenient Expansion brings the climate change discussion to Azeroth in a humorous way. I remember when this machinima was first released, I was suspicious that I might be watching something I would hate. I've found discussing real world issues with WoW players often ends in disaster so I was wary when I saw a character, named Al Boar, correlating the rise in global temperature to the rise in vanity pets. To my pleasant surprise though, the whole machinima never really gets too serious and the script is quite funny. Beyond that, I love the animation in this video. When things really get started I found myself impressed with a lot of little things ... From the way the grounds splits open, to the way Deathwing's silhouette perches atop a mountain. WoW Moviewatch: World of Workcraft
This is an older, beloved machinima by Lagspike Films called World of Workcraft. Yup, that's totally Oxhorn's voice you hear; you can recognize that bearded tone anywhere. World of Workcraft was a pretty novel idea in its time and the machinima has stood up to the years incredibly well. The opening sequence's over-the-top heroics launch you immediately into a world of adventure, making the fuzzy transition into the world of mundane that much more wrenching. All in all, the machinima enjoys great technique. If you've not seen it before, check it out. If you already know it, watch it again. You'll be surprised by how good it is, even now. WoW Moviewatch: Meet the Hunter
Occasionally, we see a movie and know right away that it's going to become a legend. Meet the Hunter by Lagspike Films is exactly that kind of video. Maybe this shouldn't be surprising; Lagspike is responsible for other great machinima like An Inconvenient Expansion and World of Workcraft. When the staff saw this video, we were all blown away. There's so many things to say about it that I hesitate to do so; I don't want to set up an impossible expectation. The animation is fantastic, the comedic timing was dead on, and the jokes were all just-right. The graphics are amazing and the voice acting was perfect. Suffice it to say, we think you should take the time to watch Meet the Hunter, and then come back and let us know what you think. Interested in the wide world of machinima?
