Meijer might not be quite as world renowned for its video game sales as a RadioShack or Sears -- but this Black Friday, it'll be a major contender for your early holiday shopping bucks. The retailer recently released its catalogue of post-Thanksgiving doorbusters and sales on video game hardware bundles and software alike. The highlights of the list are the limited holiday bundles of the Wii, PS3, PSP and DSi we've seen from other retailers -- however, at Meijer, each of these bundles includes a gift card which can be used to purchase another game right away. Check out the full list after the jump to see exactly what comes in these bundles, as well as what other deals Meijer is offering on November 26.

  • Meijer deploys indoor positioning trial, helps you find the Morton Salt faster

Indoor positioning systems have long been a holy grail for malls and big-box retailers where labyrinthine aisles and massive floorplans that rival small towns often leave customers begging for mercy, but the obstacles to deploying them are many: you've got to create detailed maps for every facility where you want it to work, and you need some sort of system for locating users with a reasonable level of precision since GPS is out of the picture. Start-up Point Inside has been hard at work on IPS for some time now, figuring that modern stores and malls teeming with WiFi access points and reliable AGPS are good enough to make it work, and now they've hooked up with Midwestern superstore chain Meijer to trial a system in four Michigan locations that will let users locate "more than" 100,000 items in store along with facilities like bathrooms and customer service. Conveniently, these stores have some 26 WiFi nodes deployed, which helps triangulate users down to a reasonable level of precision -- though it's probably not going to be able to tell if you're standing in front of the Frosted Flakes or the Raisin Bran. It's a free download for iPhone and Android users, and if you're close to one of the trial stores, be sure to let us know how well it works. Follow the break for the full press release.

  • Rumor: Meijer's catalog lists $100 price cut for Xbox 360 Elite

Kotaku recently got their hands on a catalog from retail superstore Meijer's which is supposedly due to hit ... catalog stands(?) on August 30. The clipping of interest from this ad book is for a "new lower price" for the Xbox 360 Elite model -- it seems they're slicing $100 off the price of the system, bringing it down to the $299 price point shared by the Pro version. This fits in nicely with the grand design foreseen by the Ars Technica mole back in June, which claimed Microsoft would completely replace the Pro model with the Elite sometime in September. However, we called nearly a dozen Meijer's locations to try and confirm the cut -- only one Media Center employee had heard about it, and explained that it would be a "week-long sale," and not a permanent price drop. We're certain to find out more in the near future -- either on August 30, when the catalog (and Elite price) is supposed to drop, or perhaps next week during GamesCom, which some believe will provide a veritable cornucopia of startling announcements. • Meijer's brand new $99 (shipped) Blu-ray player brings joy to skinflints everywhere

Whether you want one for a cheap Father's Day gift, player for a second room, or just a low barrier to entry for Blu-ray ownership we certainly won't judge, and we suspect more than a few will be tempted by Meijer's offer of a $99 Curtis Mathes branded CMMBX130 Blu-ray player. Add on coupon code DOTMJR09 for free shipping, and its easy to over look its lack of surround sound analog outputs or Profile 2.0 support for the cheapest new Blu-ray player we've ever seen. Inside is the same Broadcom 7440 chipset that powered much higher priced players from Samsung and others in the past, so while the absolute latest in energy efficient, fast loading, BD-Live connected goodies may escape you, we figure that extra Benjamin or two in your pocket will be more than enough to compensate.Update: Looks like it's sold out now, sorry folks![Via Dealnews]

  • Deal of the Day (for Midwesterners): Metal Gear Solid 4 $40 at Meijer

Here's an incredible deal on an incredible game: Metal Gear Solid 4 for $39.99. Unfortunately, it has two major restrictions. First, this must be purchased in-store so you must be in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, or Ohio and close to a Meijer. Secondly, this deal only lasts up till tomorrow, the 5th. Considering today is July 4th, the only chance you'll be able to get this deal is July 5th. Fortunately, if you live in these states you are most likely not far from a Meijer and some of them are open 24 hours. At this price, Midwesterners now have zero excuse for not having this certified triple-A title.[Via FatWallet]

We've known that PSN cards have been around for awhile now at select gas stations and areas near military forts and bases across the United States. Now, it looks like the cards are making another step towards more direct and wide scale distribution. American superstore Meijer is selling the cards this month and some people are already picking them up. Reader Mana Knight sends us pics of the cards in one of Meijer's stores. He was able to purchase one and use it.Meijer branches are located in only a few states: Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky. So if you live in any one of those places, you could probably find the PSN cards in your local Meijer. For everyone else, it looks like it might still be awhile; however, the fact that the cards are appearing at a major retailer points to steady progression. Will we see the cards in even bigger chains nationwide by the end of summer?[Thanks Mana Knight!]

Here's your daily format war news.Meijer, a major retailer, has announced they will carry Blu-ray titles exclusively on its website. Dawn Bronkema, Meijer's director of e-commerce marketing, told Video Business that Blu-ray discs were outselling HD DVD discs by a huge 4-1 margin. As a result, the company is focusing on Sony's movie format. There will be plans to expand to HD DVD in the future. However, "current sales prompted the company to expand its Blu-ray inventory rather than add HD DVD titles at this point."[Thanks, Andy!]

If you just so happen to be in the market for a new PSP, you might be interested to know that you can currently get a free $20 game with the purchase of a Core PSP at Meijer stores.I'm not totally sure how Meijer prices its non-Greatest Hits games, so you may or may not have to choose from the Greatest Hits library. But if you're looking for some wrestling action and have plenty of time on your hands, WWE Smackdown 2006 was just recently dubbed a Greatest Hit.You better hurry, because this deal is only good until Nov. 18.[Via Cheapassgamer - Registration required]
