Just in time for a little special holiday flavor, MissSeptula busts out a new episode of Blood Sisters as a Halloween Special. Even better, the newest edition features the best raid ever: Karazhan. MissSeptula sums up the plot as such: After obtaining Pascall the Robo Rodent from Geedee, he runs off during a chaotic confrontation between Horde and Alliance at the Dark Portal. Lexa does her best to track him down and gets led to the front door of Karazhan, but ends up getting trolled by the mischievous ghosts inside. So kick back with a handful of candy and enjoy the newest show! Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! We featured the first Blood Sisters about a month ago. It turns out Miss Septula was able to get the second one out just in time for the patch! Blood Sisters 2 was complete with scant days before the world radically changed today. In case you didn't know, machinima relies on a stable set of tools for production. Obviously, the first one of those tools is the game world itself. Other tools, like WoW Model Viewer, frequently get broken or confused by patches. So Miss Septula was racing against the clock, just in case her toolbox became obsolete today. Looks like she made it across the finish line! Interested in the wide world of machinima? Work Warning: Cursing, mature themes, and more. Be forewarned. There's sexism and racism, intended in a critical way. The first If Women Ruled WoW was mostly played for laughs. And while there are plenty of jokes in this sequel, the overall tone is much different. It feels a little more thoughtful to me. In the end, I couldn't quite decide where I landed on it, which I suppose is part of the point. It certainly has some star power, featuring Gigi, Lil Biz, Quixotica, Ray, and Nyhm. Lots of gender issues line the streets of Azeroth's community. Sometimes we do a good job of things, avoiding a lot of the misogyny and hatred that stocks up other gaming cultures. Other times, we don't do such a bang-up job. This video flips male/female and then trots out virtually every crass stereotype and lame trope we see about women in gaming. I don't know if the video serves as a successful critique or wince-worthy parody. Normally, with the cursing, I wouldn't feature the video (we're a family blog, you see), but I truly feel the video's heart was in the right place. What do you think? Blood Sisters is the first story machinima by Miss Septula. It's got some good things, and it's got some rough edges. The good things are good; the imagery mostly works out, and the use of a story and narrative always earns big points in my book. The rough edges are a little tougher to sort out. I sometimes struggled to figure out who was speaking and to whom each piece of dialogue belonged. Also, I stumbled over a couple of typos, though I don't know how much of that was for effect versus just plain accident. Ultimately, Blood Sisters is a strong start in the field of narrative machinima, so I hope to see Miss Septula do more. The biggest thing would be to tackle clearer attribution in that dialogue. Work Warning: A bit of cursing and a little raciness here. 'Tis the season when gamers' hearts turn to their significant others and we ponder how lucky we are to have them in our lives. Valentine's Day usually doesn't get a lot of extra press from the machinima crowd, but Miss Septula decided to make something a little special for her boyfriend Ray. All's Fair in Love and Warcraft is short, which makes sense since it's really a holiday card for the boyfriend. It's a really cute idea, and I wish I had thought of it myself. I even liked the kid-like singing in the video; it reminded me of homemade Valentine's Day cards (which are, for the record, the best kind). Interested in the wide world of machinima?
