What do you get when you cross Nananea and Sharm? A musical -- but not just any musical. You get Dragonwrath: A Legendary Musical. Set aside some time, kick your feet up, and relax with an awesome machinima that's truly a breath of fresh, beautiful air. The plot's essentially about getting Dragonwrath, so I'm not going to belabor that. I want to focus on the amazing singing, fun lyrics, and awesome storybook style. I'm so happy to see folks revisiting these kind of productions; while I embrace all forms of machinima, this kind of music and story amalgam has always been my favorite. WoW Moviewatch: Mama Said Freeze You Out
I don't think it's any secret than I'm a child of the '80s. OK, technically, a child of the '70s. But my formative years of music preference were filled with plenty of LL Cool J. It's no surprise that Nananea's Mama Said Freeze You Out is a favorite of mine. Listening to the song is like sinking into a warm, fluffy blanket of my teenage music, just with Nananea instead of LL Cool J. Of course, even better than just a parody of the original song, Mama Said Freeze You Out is one of those rare, rare videos in which the Alliance PvPs the ever-loving snot out of the Horde. You don't get a lot of that. Most of the "I'm so awesome, Imma blow up your dog with my mad epic daggers" videos tend to be Horde-flavored. I guess that makes sense, since there was a time when the Horde racials were vastly superior for PvP, but it still makes treats like this video that much more delicious. WoW Moviewatch: Million Miles from Home
This is a new movie by Dreyfus Xano, inspired by a Soosdon video from a while back. Xano's machinima is actually chock-full of references to other members of the machinima community; there's so many shout-outs in here I can't separate them all out. Million Miles from Home also has a guest star you probably recognize: Nananea. Xano has been working on his machinima skills for a little while, and Million Miles from Home represents a significant step up for the creator. Using a story within the video helps give the action some frame and motion. That technique definitely seemed to help Xano's work, so I'd encourage him to keep working within a narrative framework. Million Miles from Home won't be everyone's cup of joe, but I think it's worth the watch. I definitely hope to see Xano keep creating, and I look forward to the next. WoW Moviewatch: Hearts Nether Lie, episode 3
Nananea has already reached the third episode of the machinima-based soap opera Hearts Nether Lie. In this episode, Nananea's eponymous character has fetched the vital keystone, only to discover that Vargoth must dash away. She is left alone with only a watery companion who reluctantly obeys the command to journey into the nethers with Nananea. I still get a lot of guity pleasure from Hearts Nether Lie. We needed a good, old-fashioned soap opera, and Nananea is delivering that. She's even taking it up a notch with some tongue-in-cheek humor. I can almost see Jaina's sordid history fitting right in with this cast of characters, which validates the success of this fan fiction. At any rate, I can't wait to see the next episode. WoW Moviewatch: Hearts Nether Lie: Episode 1
Michael Gray wasn't available today due to something involving a pathological fear of soap operas, so I'm filling in and bringing you the first episode of Hearts Nether Lie, a WoW-based soap opera. If you remember, the preview for the series came out in late September, promising romance, betrayal and good-natured satire of both World of Warcraft and the soap opera genre. This comes from Nananea, who brought you WoW Addons: The Song, and does a good job of spoofing the Netherstorm quest line involving Archmage Vargoth. This was a great first episode, as it showed good production quality, fun gags and a certain campiness that the high elves call ... I don't know what. WoW Moviewatch: Hearts Nether Lie
Hearts Nether Lie is an interesting project by Nananea. Overall, the series is conceptualized as a machinima soap opera. I think this might be the first episodic WoW soap opera, so Nananea definitely wins points for originality. Recognize the voice in the trailer? That's Rawrbug doing the voiceover. I think this project could be fun. Episodic stories can be very rewarding for both an audience and a writer, and I think Nananea will be able to grow the format over time. I'm definitely interested in seeing how Hearts Nether Lie turns out. All the World's a Stage is your source for roleplaying ideas, innovations and ironies. WoW Moviewatch: WoW AddOns: The Song!
Some people love their mods. And I mean, they really love their mods. (We can love our mods, we just can't love our mods.) But mods are a pretty key part of many players' World of Warcraft experience. People are always swapping and sharing information about UIs. It's almost become a subculture. Apparently, Nananea gets so many questions about Addons that it led to this video titled: WoW AddOns: The Song! The vocal performance itself doesn't necessarily rock my world, but there's a lot to commend in this video. The graphics and visuals are all amazingly well coordinated, and the annotations, lyrics, and visuals do a great job informing the audience about each displayed AddOn. The autotune is a wonderful choice of audio technique, given that the whole subject matter is about using technology to customize experience. The lyrics were written well and flow together nicely.
