Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac 11.4.0 Update
Microsoft releases patches for most of their products on a monthly schedule, on the second Tuesday of the month specifically. I'm telling you this because today is the second Tuesday of February and Microsoft has a gift for all you Office 2004 for the Mac users: a patch for a critical vulnerability (insert obligatory Microsoft joke here).Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac 11.4.0 Update addresses, 'a vulnerability that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of your computer's memory with malicious code.' Nobody wants malicious code on their computer, so if you're running Office 2004 for Mac on your Mac, apply this update as soon as possible. Office 2008 for Mac does not have this vulnerability.

Scott just mentioned Microsoft's Remote Desktop to me in chat and all of a sudden the entire Office: mac team rushed to push a mostly unrelated update out the door!From the Read Me: "This update contains several updates to enhance security and stability, including fixes for vulnerabilities that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of your computer's memory with malicious code. In addition, this update includes all of the improvements released in all previous Office 2004 updates."More specifically? Hyphenation is applied correctly to Swiss German content (all) Properties are retained in large documents (Word) Font does not change to Times New Roman after using a non-breaking space (Word) Hyperlinks and Action Settings are retained (PPT) No Entourage or Excel improvements noted and I haven't installed it yet so I can't say if their version numbers are even changed (an ongoing Office annoyance). If/when you install it, please let us know how it works for you!
