Over on the EU forums is an ongoing discussion of a type that usually comes about every expansion cycle: the question of whether or not your computer will need upgrades in order to run the new content. The short answer from CM Taepsilum is that, if you're happy with your computer's current performance in WoW, you're probably fine for Warlords of Draenor. So there's the answer to that. However, fleetingly mentioned at the beginning of the post is the following interesting tidbit: Taepsilum Quote: Maideen Since we are being blessed with new character models (Which can be disabled? Yes, no?) Yes, if you set your graphics quality to Low. source This isn't something that's been explicitly clarified before now. There's been some talk that there would be a way to switch between the old and new models but we hadn't heard exactly how that would be done. It seems we now know: just set your graphics to "low" and it will enable the old player character models. If you've been nervous that your beloved main of many years might be changing irreversibly, hopefully this allows you to breathe a little easier. There'll be a way back!

  • The Game Archaeologist: A City of Heroes memorial, part 1

When I first heard that City of Heroes would be given a hero's farewell, I felt for the players who call that game home. I also was depressed because I spent a fair amount of time in Paragon City myself and have a particular affection for the game. But beyond empathy and misery, I knew that the Game Archeologist had a duty to perform: to preserve the memories of what would soon fade into history. Thus, I put out a call for your City of Heroes characters along with their stories so that I could share them with the world at large. Dozens of readers responded, and for the next couple of weeks, we're going to be looking at the digital face of tragedy and memories. These are the avatars who genuinely meant something to someone, and while they are about to be deleted from the servers forever, I hope that by archiving them here, they'll live on for future generations (read: December 2012 readers) to discover. Let's go meet some of them, shall we?

Attention, Marvel Universe fans: if you missed some of the reveals at San Diego Comic-Con, we are here to help you catch up. As we have mentioned in a prior article, the man behind the pen of the great Ultimate Spider-Man reboot, Brian Michael Bendis, is set to write the story behind this first-ever Marvel MMO. Although few other details of this highly anticipated free-to-play MMO have been revealed, we now know that a very iconic mutant will grace your screen when you play the game. This, of course, is none other than the Merc-with-a-mouth himself, Deadpool. As the Editorial Director for Marvel.com, Agent M, announced, you will be able to don the secret identity of Mr. Wade Wilson. Will you be as indestructible and athletic as this wise-acre? We will have to wait and see. As more information is revealed, we will be sure to send it your way. [Updated with Agent M's exact title. Thanks, Agent M]

  • Wonderland Online tames the wild St. Joan of Arc

She's a spitfire military commander and was played by Jane Wiedlin of The Go-Go's in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, but that doesn't mean Joan of Arc works alone. On the contrary: The good folks at Wonderland Online are pleased to announce that St. Joan is a "new human pet" for players to add to their team. We've heard that historical figures make the best pets, really. Joan will be kicking butt with her Running Strike and Water Explode skills, as her enemies discovered in the 15th century. As an immortal saint and human pet, St. Joan is but a part of the content that IGG has added to this title. With version 6.0 of Wonderland Online, two new player characters are now available to test drive. If the cushy princess life is for you, then Karin is right up your alley. She can even summon a butler to fight on her behalf (don't want to break those nails, after all). Or if you like getting your hands dirty, then pick up Juzo, a hammerer who "doesn't like talking with others" but helps out anyway. It's what he does. He's spiffy. You can download the updated 6.0 version of the game over at Wonderland Online's site. Just be sure to tell Joan that we sent you.
