PomPom Games (the folks behind Mutant Storm Reloaded, among a few other shooters) has released a brand new game on PlayStation Mobile-compatible devices called Rebel, and as the developer says, the game came from an interesting plan to try and make a shooter ... without shooting. The result has the player running around an island in between slower enemy bullets, trying to aim those bullets at other bad guys, all the while collecting gems and power-ups.Sounds fun. There are multiple levels and game modes to unlock as you play the game, which you can open up by collecting more and more gems. Rebel is available right now on any PlayStation Mobile device (including the PS Vita) for $1.99.

Alien Zombie Mega Death is just as frantic as its convoluted title implies. The shooter, which started life as a PSP Mini last year before being ported to a full PSN release for PS3 by developer PomPom, tasks players with clearing out rows of extraterrestrial undead while avoiding their slimy projectiles. Following that, it tasks them with defusing bombs, planting power-ups, rescuing space babies and shooting down bosses -- hopefully, we pray, not at the same time. The game launches tomorrow, June 21, on the PlayStation Network, where it will cost $7.99. Check out the absolutely bananacakes launch trailer after the break.

PomPom Games, creators of the PSN-exclusive Astro Tripper, are working on yet another downloadable title for PS3. Gemini Rings won't be a shoot-em-up like its predecessor, but PomPom is promising "stuff gets blown up." GamerBytes postulates that the game will follow a formula similar to PSP's Every Extend Extra or Geometry Wars 2's Pacifist mode.No additional details are available yet, but we're eager to find out more. PomPom's Astro Tripper wasn't the best game on PSN, but it was easily worth its affordable $5 asking price.
