The Pro Evolution Soccer series has been playing catch-up to EA Sports' FIFA games in this console generation. While the series has its bright spots that undoubtedly challenge the safer gameplay approach of FIFA, the Pro Evo series has lacked that "homerun" feature (pardon the baseball pun). Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 doesn't alter that course, but it brings forth some noteworthy updates that make it a viable means of getting your soccer fix.Of those updates, a group of gameplay changes that Konami is labeling "Pro Evolution Soccer Full Control" stands out. Included in this cluster of improvements is dynamic first touch, which focuses on moments when players anticipate a pass coming their way. Borderlands 2 beats Mass Effect 3 for biggest UK sales debut so far this year
Borderlands 2 launched straight to number one in the UK last week, with the strongest debut of 2012 so far, besting Mass Effect 3 by 4,000 sales, according to Chart-Track. For some historical context, the original Borderlands premiered in seventh place back in 2009, with the sequel outselling the previous installment during launch week 4 to 1.Gearbox's co-op shooter wasn't the only big premiere this week, both F1 2012 and Pro Evolution Soccer debuted strongly and took second and third place, respectively. Another newcomer last week was LittleBigPlanet Vita in sixth, which had the "biggest sales week for a non-hardware launch week Vita title." Leap past the break for the UK top ten.
PES 2013 takes the pitch on September 25
Konami has announced an official release date for its upcoming PES 2013 soccer sim. Players will be able to pick up the game for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows on September 25. The game features "PES Full Control," which promises to let players manually control every single pass. The new Pro Active AI should keep your opponents competitive, too.If you're not sure whether you want PES 2013 yet or not, you're in luck: There are two different demos for the game available right now. Give one or both a play, and you'll know for sure whether you want to start corner kicking later on this month.

Pre-orders of Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 will come with a UEFA Champions League metallic cover, Konami announced today. The shiny limited edition covers will be available as a gift with pre-order purchases at GameStop in the US and EB in Canada. For whatever reason.PES 2013's second demo hits this week, arriving on XBLM on August 28 and PSN on August 29. The actual game comes to Xbox 360, PS3, and PC near the end of September, and Wii, PSP, 3DS, and PS2 later on this year.
