Japan's NEC Corp. is offering a new 42-inch plasma display designed for corporate deployment whose 3,000:1 contrast ratio and 1,400-candela/square-meter brightness should make it a hit in keiretsu boardrooms nationwide. Which is a good thing, because at almost $4,500, the PX-42XM4J -- with its 1,024 x 768 resolution -- probably wouldn't attract today's consumer looking for that all important 1,080p designation.
