Breakfast Topic: Where will your character rest for the last time?
Back in the era when playing an MMO was an all-or-nothing proposition, choosing a final logout location could be an emotionally overwrought event. Today, however, players drop in and out of games with regularity. We may skip patches or even expansions that don't particularly appeal to us. We may temporarily step out of Azeroth to focus on real-world goals. We may fall out of love with a character and pick up an alt, only to return months or even years down the line. Even so, I confess to remaining sentimental about where I log out before an extended (or final) absence. I can still tell you exactly where each of my EverQuest characters is camped out, and I've bookmarked a couple of YouTube videos that run past those areas so that I can occasionally recapture their spirit even without access to the game. I'm a little less attached to logout spots for my WoW characters simply because I use nearly all of them at one point or another for screenshots or in-game contacts for WoW Insider. After this many screenshots, they've ended up scattered across some fairly odd spots. Where will your main character log out for the very last time? Is it someplace you've grown comfortable with over the years? Somewhere representative of that character's adventures or character? A familiar spot behind the counter of a favorite vendor or banker? Or perhaps, like the screenshot above, somewhere holding a tinge of tragedy?

But you just can't bring yourself to open that door. Leaving a guild is so uncomfortable, so guilt-inducing, so potentially dramatastic, so ... awkward. Is it any wonder that the best way to leave (disguised as "whether" to leave) a guild is one of the most popular questions to hit the Drama Mamas mailbox every week? Dear Drama Mamas: I have recently decided that it may be time for me to make a change from one guild to another; however, because I am an officer in my current guild, I feel rather guilty in doing so at this time. The raid times have become enough of an issue that they became a noticeable problem in real life, and I recently informed my guild that I would no longer be raiding with them. This past weekend, I ran into a former co-worker of mine who happen to be on the same server. One of them informed me that their guild is looking for my class, and their raid times coincide almost perfectly with my preferred playing times. Their guild is a bit more progressed than my current guild, which is rather appealing, as is the prospect of getting together with some real life-friends, but I feel like if I join their guild, I am bailing on my current guild. Do you have any suggestions on how to break the news to my current guild (or officers) that I am thinking about applying to another guild, or any suggestions on how to make a transition go smoothly? WoW Moviewatch: I quit!
If you're going to quit the game, why do it with a boring video showing you disenchanting epic gear or deleting characters decked out in the game's best loot? At this point, practically everyone seems to make the same "I quit!" videos when they decide to leave the game behind. If you're going to quit, do it with a little panache, as seen in this 300-style "I quit" movie.Previously on Moviewatch...
Some weekend WoW humor
After a week of bugs and endless forum whining, I think we could all use a little funny...Today we salute you, Mr. Suddenly Has To Go Right After a Wipe Guy. Soapygirl over at WoW_Ladies has a hilarious post from her raid leader about people who bail on raids early. It is in the style of those "Real Men of Genius" beer commercials, and it is one of the funnier things I have seen in a good while. If I was creative at all I'd try one of my own, but I'm not, so I'll spare you the lameness.If you are looking to quit a guild, or WoW itself, you could do it the classy way. Or you could do it the Not Addicted way. Quickly spending all your DKP to maximize your loot to sell on Ebay? Good idea! Long, boring, self-serving WoW farewell letter in the forums? The more flame-worthy, the better! As with most Not Addicted material, there is some truth in the humor, and some realistic suggestions for ending your WoW career with bang while not annoying your entire server. Bonus!
