NPR's biggest podcasts are available on the iHeartRadio app
There's a new place to listen to your favorite NPR podcasts: the iHeartRadio app. A press release says that Fresh Air, How I Built This, Invisibilia, Planet Money and Up First will be available via the app, among some 30 others. So, wherever the iHeartRadio app exists (Android, iOS, Alexa are a few examples) you'll be able to catch up on Radiolab. It isn't the biggest news in the world, but more access to NPR's podcasts is sure to make a few people happy today.
Spotify lands '2 Dope Queens' and other hit WNYC podcasts
Last month, Spotify reaffirmed its interest in podcasting by introducing three original shows. The streaming service clearly wants to be a source for not just music, but all our listening needs. Now, it's taking another big step to establish itself as a legitimate podcast destination. Spotify announced today that a partnership with WNYC Studios will bring some of the network's popular podcasts to its platform.
Radiolab releases Android, iOS app, invites you to join the sound collage
We're not going to go so far as stating conclusively that Radiolab is the best program on your dial right now, but it's certainly a prime contender for that title. The Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich-hosted WYNC show frames scientific topics in a fascinating and understandable manner accessible to even the most unscientifically minded among us. The program now joins the ranks of public radio shows that crossed over into the world of mobile apps, arriving on Android and iOS. For $2.99, you get access to every episode of the show, audio and video bonuses and news pertaining to the program. The app's also heavy of interstitial animations (as evidenced by the video below) and lets users submit audio recordings and end-credit readings for inclusion on the show.
