There are a number of maladies one usually associates with long-term guitar playing -- bloodied, mangled fingers (otherwise known as Townshend syndrome), horrible "strap burn" on one side of the player's neck, and, of course, an insatiable addiction to heroin. While for the most part, faux-rocking Guitar Hero and Rock Band enthusiasts are safe from these perils, a recent recall announcement of a peripheral may concern ludological guitarists about the very real possibility of shredding-related pants corrosion. The peripheral in question is the Rage Wireless Guitar for the Wii, which has been recalled due to a faulty circuit board which causes the AA batteries within to leak onto the user's Jordache's, and possibly, the tallowy skin beneath. One injury complaint has already been filed, spurring the recall, however, those present at the aforementioned time of injury were quoted as saying, "seeing Steve rock so hard that he burned a hole in his pants was the coolest thing any of us will ever see."[Via 1UP]

Uh, if you play with your face, that is. Just go with it.The Rage Wireless Wii guitar from Performance Design Products has been recalled due to its tendency to burn human flesh if not handled correctly. Well, it burned one set of flesh, at least, and that was enough. According to the official recall, if the batteries are installed incorrectly, something with the circuit board will cause those batteries to leak. That can't possibly enhance your fake-music-playing experience. If you happen to have one of these, check the manufacturer's website for more recall information.Do not buy (or keep) guitars that have the potential to hurt you worse than you have ever been burned. Buy a safe guitar instead. Y'know, like one of these.[Via GoNintendo]

  • Rage Wireless Guitars recalled, chemical burns deemed too emo

Performance Designed Products' Rage Wireless Guitar isn't the most well known Guitar Hero peripheral out there, but that's apt to change in a hurry after this. Said instrument has just been recalled after the company received a single report of a burn after the user self-pwnt him / herself by installing the AA batteries incorrectly. Apparently the circuit board within the axe is "defective" in such a way that it causes cells to leak if they are inserted in an incorrect manner, and thus, it poses a risk of chemical burn to the rocker handling it. Interestingly, consumers who own one are instructed to return the thing to the original place of purchase rather than PDP itself, so we'd recommend wrapping your arm in gauze and printing out the read link to help your case if you've trashed the receipt.[Via SlipperyBrick]
