Did you find your redemption code on the back of the manual (hint: it's that wad of paper they include with video games)? Did you send off the relevant form and confirm your e-mail address? Well, then you should be receiving the download code for your 20 free Rock Band 2 tracks soon ... ish!According to Harmonix, the codes will be rolled out over a period of 24 hours, a measure implemented due to the volume of numbers and letters that have to be squeezed through the company's e-pipe. E-mails to PlayStation 3 owners of the game will be sent "later in the week." Whether or not you actually have any, know that Harmonix preemptively appreciates your patience.

If you're interested to see how Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero: World Tour's 16 shared songs match up to one another, look no further than YouTube. While there are certainly others (and undoubtedly more to follow suit), user Gurra100 has a playlist of comparison videos (embedded after the break). Everything we've seen so far looks unsurprisingly identical (update: scratch that, we just watched "Go Your Own Way" -- not so identical at all).Take note how GH:WT handles a Rock Band 2 set -- namely, it's scaled down to a 4-pad note chart. According to some on the Rock Band forums, trying to play the 5-pad variant with a RB2 set plus cymbal pack leads to glitches.Meanwhile, our Instrument Compatibility Matrix has been updated to version 3.33 and we're still working to fill in all the missing pieces; we've reached out to Activision and Harmonix for help.

Previously, the ship dates for Rock Band 2 instruments ranged from "sometime within the next few months" to "sometime." Now, however, we're hearing that the standalone wireless drums ($90) and guitar ($70) will begin to ship out next week (at least for the Xbox 360). Additionally, Mad Catz's Fender P-Bass wireless guitar controller ($70) and the wired ION Drum Rocker set ($300) should clutter up floor space around the same time.
