Just as we were getting lulled by the weeks of slow releases and were convinced we had time to whittle away at that ever-increasing backlog of DS games, a week of awesome bursts out of nowhere. Between Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and The World Ends With You, we expect a lot of gamers to be pretty busy in the coming days. Dream Pinball 3D Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time River King: Mystic Valley The World Ends With You Hit the jump to see what's out in the rest of the major markets. Rising Star announced today that they're bringing River King: Mystic Valley to Europe, a game that we're sure all you European folks have been aching for. More than likely, though, you haven't heard much about this title (which will be called Harvest Fishing over in Euroland). The game features touchscreen fishing, as well as a dramatic storyline (for a fishing sim).Your ultimate task is to rescue your sister, who has somehow fallen into an endless sleep. The only way to save her, though, is to find the River King, a big fish that knows what the cure is. As if that's not trippy enough, you also make friends with the magical creatures you encounter on your way to finding the big fella.A nice feature of the game is its online Wi-Fi, which allows you to have fishing tournaments with friends. The only problem is, though, that you may not know too many people who end up getting the title to make it worth it.In any case, should you be interested, River King/Harvest Fishing hits Europe in June (and the U.S. this April).%Gallery-19826%[Via press release]

  • VC Tuesday: Poor King's Knight

We have a soft spot in our hearts for King's Knight. Not enough of a soft spot, we don't think, to pay 500 points for the thing, but it's still just such a weird product. It looks pretty much like Ultima in screenshots, but it's totally a vertical scrolling shooter. And the Square nostalgia crowd just has no interest in shooters -- unless they're Einhänder. Square couldn't even get the title right in the game's own title screen. Something as maligned as this, you just have to love a little. By the way, this brings the number of Square Enix games on the VC worldwide to three. And only one of those is really any good.King's Knight faces tough competition this week in the weirdness category. Panel de Pon is pretty normal, although we suppose that being remade as Yoshi, Tetris, and Pokemon games is kind of weird. Still, it's just a great puzzle game. But Legend of the River King is a fishing RPG, and Langrisser is a strategy game from Masaya. And, as a Masaya game, it features cameos from Adon and Samson from Cho Aniki. In fact, they appear as hidden bosses, and, once defeated, grant you the ultra-powerful "Aniki" summon. Cho Aniki is basically the weirdness-in-games trump card. King's Knight (Famicom, 1 player, 500 Wii Points) Panel de Pon (Super Famicom, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points) Langrisser (Mega Drive, 1-2 players, 700 Wii Points) Kawa no Nushi Tsuri (Legend of the River King) (PC Engine, 1 player, 800 Wii Points)
