Of course, Robot Wars is coming back for another season. The show's revival in July 2016 was a huge success, reminding everyone how much fun it is to watch homemade robots smash each other to bits. Season nine debuted in March and Season 10, the BBC has announced today, will start on Sunday, October 22nd at 8pm on BBC Two. There will be new teams, of course, as well as some updated rules. The new trailer hints at a "Fog of War" hazard, which engulfs competitors in a thick mist, as well as a 10-robot battle royale mode. The latter sounds like total carnage, especially if Sir Killalot and the rest of the house robots are allowed to get involved...

The Robot Wars reboot, it's fair to say, went a little better than the new-look Top Gear. While Chris Evans and chums were panned by petrolheads -- leading to dismal ratings and the departure of its new anchor -- the robotic mayhem on BBC Two climbed to new heights. Larger house robots, some crazy new contestants and a revamped stadium were the perfect recipe for a Sunday night in. Now, the show is coming back. The BBC has confirmed that Robot Wars will return for another six-part series with Dara Ó Briain and Angela Scanlon at the helm. Same stadium, probably the same format -- and Team Apollo back to defend their coveted title. We can't wait.

After a long hiatus, the much-loved gladiatorial game show Robot Wars is returning to the BBC. The new series, which will consist of six hour-long episodes, is bringing back the old House Robot gang to smash, drop and ultimately humiliate contestants. Only this time, they're bigger and stronger. Sir Killalot weighs a whopping 741 kilograms and can lift 300 kilograms -- roughly the weight of three competitor robots -- with each arm. Dead Metal's circular saw spins at 4000RPM and can cut through almost anything. Shunt's axe takes a quarter of a second to fire. Matilda's tusks can flip up to 1.5 tonnes. Together, they're a formidable bunch.

We hate to be the ones to break it to you, but Craig Charles will not be reprising his role as presenter for the upcoming Robot Wars reboot -- and there'll be no Philippa Forrester trawling the pits for interviews and intel either. As well as revealing an updated logo for the show this morning, the BBC announced that Irish duo Dara Ó Briain and Angela Scanlon will host the six-part series, with veteran commentator Jonathan Pearce returning to call the action as it happens. Set to air on BBC Two at some point in the future, the new tournament format will feature "more robots, more battles and more science," with dreams shattered or realised in a new, "literally bullet proof" arena.

We can't believe it either. The carnage of Robot Wars is coming back to BBC Two, promising "more battles and more science" as a new batch of tinkerers duke it out for the show's coveted title. The TV competition first aired in 1998 before being shifted to BBC Choice in 2001 and later to TV rival Channel 5. While the specifics of the new format haven't been detailed, the BBC says viewers can expect better robots and "a raft of technological advancements." Part of that will be a new arena in Glasgow that's "literally bullet proof" and lets spectators get closer to the action.
