Roku's tiny Premiere box brings 4K streaming down to $40
At this point, Roku's only option with streaming players is to make them cheaper and more capable. And so we have the new Premiere and Premiere+, the company's lowest-priced 4K HDR players yet at $40 and $50, respectively. They're arriving just as 4K sets are becoming ubiquitous, and as more consumers might want something more than the apps built into their TVs. Previously, the Premiere line was priced at $70 and $90 -- not much less than the $100 high-end Ultra player. (The Ultra is sticking with the same price and hardware this year, but it's now coming with JBL earbuds.) The new Premiere is available for pre-order today, while the Premiere+ will hit Walmart in October.

The best media streaming device for most people is the updated Roku Streaming Stick. It's as fast to use as any streamer available and has a wider selection of apps than others offer. And unlike its main competitors, Roku doesn't try to sell content from its own store; rather than prioritizing one streaming service over another within its interface, it lets you customize what it displays to suit your preferences.
Roku's new players start at $30, and they make 4K and HDR cheaper
You'd think that there would be no surprises left for Roku's next batch of streaming media players, following a bunch of leaks which revealed plenty of details and some very clear photos. But that's not entirely true, chiefly because we didn't know the most important detail about Roku's new lineup: price. What's most impressive about the company's new players -- which are available for preorder today, and will ship on October 9th -- is how they're driving down the cost of adding streaming media to your TV while also expanding on useful capabilities like 4K and HDR.
Here's what your next Roku streaming boxes will look like
After releasing a cheap, updated streaming stick to great reviews, it was only a matter of time before Roku officially revealed updates for the rest of its line-up. This is not that time. Dave Zatz (who also blew the lid off Roku's rebranding efforts not long ago) has come through with images and details of Roku's currently unannounced updates, and for the most part, they're the logical next steps many expected.
