Postal 3 is set to launch later this year, but Running With Scissors has prepared a new trailer for E3 right now -- complete with a celebrity cameo from Ron Jeremy and, uh, Osama Bin Laden.

With all the talk of violent video games last week, we got to thinking about one of the most vilified gaming franchises: Postal. It's been a good 17 months since we've had an update on the latest in the series, Postal 3, so we assumed ... perhaps even hoped a little, that it was dead. "Not so!" says Running With Scissors' Vince Desi. He told us, "It's in the final stages in Moscow, I don't think it will come out this Christmas." It's a disappointment for anyone planning on giving the gift of a badger on a harness this holiday season, but have faith: Desi says he's hoping to set the badger loose in the first quarter of next year, much to the chagrin of ... well, probably everybody.

Well, this is a new take on a celebrity guest appearance. Running With Scissors boss Vince Desi told Eurogamer that cinematic auteur Uwe Boll paid to be included in the company's upcoming Postal 3. It's doubly ironic, as we're fairly sure Postal 3 isn't ever going to come out.But before we rush to judgment: Is it possible that Boll is trying to look better by comparison? Like you know how known super-fat guy Fatty Arbuckle used to pay a bunch of ultra-fat guys to hang around with him just so people would be like "Hey, you know, Fatty's not looking that fat."? Maybe this is like that, but with being terrible.

We know there's an age gate on this new trailer for award-winning Postal III, but we're not even sure we're old enough to have seen all of the murder contained within the clip we've placed below the break. There's murder by badger, murder via Segway and good old shooting murder, all set to a soundtrack that'll have you throwing up the devil horns ... and promptly plugging your ears with them. And just think of it ... this is pre-beta (not alpha, mind). Just imagine how many more murders they can fit in before it comes out! The mind reels.

Normally, we wouldn't be so quick to hand down a major honor like this, but with just a few hours left in the show we feel pretty confident. So, on behalf of Joystiq and the Joystiq network, we're pleased to present Running With Scissors, creators of Postal 3 with the coveted Weapon of the Show award for ... badger on a harness.Confused? Here's the basic premise: It's a badger on a harness, and when you point it at people it wrecks their shop until they die from it. Congratulations, Running With Scissors, enjoy it in good health.

  • Postal devs lay Person of the Year award at Tallarico's feet

Video Games Live co-creator Tommy Tallarico has been singled out as the 2007's Person of the Year. No, not by Time magazine, or really any outlet from which we'd expect such acclaim to originate, but rather by outspoken game studio Running with Scissors, creators of the controversial Postal game franchise. As the first such award bestowed by the studio, the accolade was announced during Running with Scissors' annual holiday shindig. We appreciate the effort, and are glad to see when personalities within the game industry are recognized, but in all honestly we can't recall a time when anything said by Running with Scissors was met with anything but indifference. If we were Tallarico, and believe us when we say that nothing could be further from the truth, we'd be inclined to accept the award, nod, and back out of the room. Slowly.

Mindless everyman violence news now, with the coming of Postal 3 being officially announced by high-lariously satirical and edgy game developer, Running With Scissors. Utilizing the Valve-developed Source engine, the game and soon to be Uwe Boll anti-masterpiece will reportedly (and repeatedly) hit the Xbox 360 and PC sometime in 2008. The developer told Firing Squad that the sequel would be made and published in conjunction with Russian software company, Akella, and that it would feature an open world design similar to that of the previous Postal.Running With Scissors also noted that fan feedback (helpful summary: bleurgh) from Postal 2 would be noted as they work on the sequel. Those looking forward to having their next run-in with a polygonal Gary Coleman will be pleased to learn that a Postal collection with new extras is on the way, as is a CD filled with music "inspired by" the series. We imagine Shirley Manson features heavily on it.See also: Joystiq interviews Doug Lombardi about Xbox 360 Source
