It's a steady week on the eShop ahead of this month's big kahuna - that's Mario Kart 8, by the way - but there are games that may pique your interest. Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails is an unusual shoot-em-up in that you move by scrolling along magnetic rails on the walls - oh, and you're shooting mechanized rats while trying to save all the world's cats. It's out for the Wii U this week, while Wii Party U gets a belated eShop release too. Over on the handheld, there's the debut of Renegade Kid's enhanced episodic remake of Moon Chronicles (the first episode's priced $9 while the upcoming three chapters are $2 each). Also, Capcom's Mega May continues with Game Boy platformer Mega Man 4. Don't forget Atlus is discounting the two Etrian Odyssey games on 3DS at $20 each, and that sale ends on Monday, May 19. On the same day, a new one starts for Code of Princess and Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor Overclocked, down to $15 each until June 5. [Image: Dakko Dakko]

Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails is coming to the Wii U eShop on May 15, priced $10 in North America and £9/10 euros across the pond. You play as the Buddy on Rails in Dakko Dakko's shoot-em-up, and you have to scroll along the walls of a space station to save your cat, Scram Kitty, and all the world's cats for that matter. Unfortunately, there's a huge army of mecha-rats in the way - isn't there always? Happily you have an arsenal of blasting, exploding and lasering things to help you survive the game's tricky-looking assortment of hazards and enemies. Also, while players blast up rodents on the GamePad, Scram Kitty appears on the TV screen offerings feedback and advice. That sounds like it could be awesome, creepy, or both. For a look at the game itself in action, check out Dakko Dakko's trailer from earlier in the year. [Image: Dakko Dakko]

  • Scram Kitty and His Buddy heading to Wii U eShop in April

Earlier this week, the wall-scrolling blaster Scram Kitty and His Buddy on Rails was assigned a March release on the Wii U eShop. However, NintendoLife's exchange with developer Dakko Dakko suggests the platformer isn't due for North America or Europe until April. The above trailer's description on YouTube reflects the April time window as well. Neither an exact date or price have been announced yet, but considering Scram Kitty was initially shown in an eShop indie sizzle reel in November, just having the release month is a start. April would be a good choice, too - after Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze in February and Watch Dogs sometime this spring, the Wii U's next big release, Mario Kart 8, isn't due until May.
