When we saw the marked-down Gundam Cross Drive DS Lite yesterday -- which, by the way, we hope you did, or the picture above won't even come close to making sense -- we briefly considered dropping the $160 for it. But in the end we decided that, even though $160 was cheap for that item, it's still pretty expensive for a thing we didn't need and didn't expect to pay for.Do you have a ceiling for impulse buys? Does it vary by mood? Or is there a certain amount that you don't mind spending on unplanned game stuff? At what point do you have to start thinking about it?
A limited deal on a limited DS Lite
The SD Gundam G Generation Cross Drive limited-edition DS Lite was released in Japan on August 9 of last year. It's one of the coolest LE Lites released, with its simple, clean design, featuring the logo found on Amuro Ray's RX-93 v Gundam. And now, for as long as there are units left, it's available to U.S. audiences -- at a reasonable price, which is somewhat of a novelty for one of these systems!Retailer NCSX is clearing out their supply of Cross Drive Lites for $158.90. Sure, it's $30 more than a normal DS Lite, but it's a better expression of Gundam fandom (fandam?) than actually buying a Gundam game.

If you'll play any SRPG or mobile suit game you can get your hands on, regardless of whether it's in English or not, break open your wallet for SD Gundam G Generation: Cross Drive. Play Asia has the not-due-for-localization title on sale for the next week, asking only $14.90 for the chibi mecha game. As you can see in the trailer, Cross Drive plays a lot like the Super Robot Taisen GBA games Atlus brought to the states two years ago.Hopefully, we'll see similar deals for Gundam 00 when the 3D action-stravaganza comes out (and stays) in Japan.
