While the Joystiq staff continues to mull over the possibility that this is a sign of the Apocalypse, please know that Ubisoft has officially unveiled The Smurfs Dance Party, which was first rumored in April. The game will allow players to "dance alongside their favorite characters and heroes from the feature film, including Smurfette, Papa Smurf, Clumsy, Brainy, Gutsy and Gargamel." Wait, Gargamel? He's the bad guy! The Smurfs Dance Party will debut exclusively on the Wii this July and will include both "chart-topping hits" and "classic tunes" set to "20 fun dances, all created by professional choreographers and led by the legendary blue characters." Another Smurfs title -- a mini-game collection, to be precise -- is also planned for the DS. You can peruse some (vaguely sinister) screens of The Smurfs Dance Party in the gallery below. %Gallery-123813%

We aren't exactly sure how Metromix got screens of what appears to be the recently outed Smurfs Dance Party game, but here it is (above and after the break). Contacted for comment, a Ubisoft rep told us the Smurf product announcement will come mid-May. The company isn't currently releasing assets for whatever its Smurf game(s) will be. Metromix's product description notes the title is being developed by Land Ho! (We Cheer) and will have players following "Smurf'testants" as they (sigh) "shake their powder blue rumps to songs by the Jackson 5, Selena Gomez and Katy Perry." The site lists a July 26 release date (same as GameFly). And yes, if the screens are accurate, it's definitely another spin-off of Ubisoft's super successful Just Dance franchise. [Thanks, Elliott]

When you envisioned the Smurfs movie tie-in games, you might not have pictured a dance floor beneath the diminutive blue folk. Ubisoft has received a classification for Smurfs Dance Party from the Australian Classification Review Board, giving a clear indication of the direction that at least one of the games will take. Smurfs Dance Party also appears as a Wii title on game rental service GameFly, which only lists items as they are submitted by publishers. If history is any indication, Smurfs Dance Party will be modeled after Ubisoft's mega-successful Just Dance series. It was recently announced that Just Dance spin-off Michael Jackson: The Experience reached 3 million sales globally. Ubisoft has yet to depart from the Just Dance formula with its rhythm titles, so we expect to gyrate and smurf along with the Smurfs later this year.
