The Humble Mobile Bundle 3, which made its debut last week – headlined by Vlambeer's Ridiculous Fishing – has now added three new games, available to those who have contributed more than the average pay-what-you-want price. Driving simulator Desert Bus, about a bus on its way from Arizona to Las Vegas, is perhaps the most well-known of the trio. You may have heard of it from its annual fundraising campaign called Desert Bus for Hope, which recently cleared over $520,000 for Child's Play – an organization that coordinates donation of toys, games and consoles to sick children in hospitals across the country. Alongside the game about driving a bus for hours is minimalist puzzle game and former iOS-only success Hundreds, which tasks players with tapping circles to increase their size and numerical value, with the goal being to accumulate a total of 100 on-screen points. The third game on offer is Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor – an action-adventure platformer. A sequel, titled Spider: Rite of the Shrouded Moon, is due in the spring. There are currently just over six days left on the Humble Mobile Bundle 3 clock.

Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor was one of the first huge smash hits on the iOS App Store, and now it's getting a sequel. Developer Tiger Style revealed that a new title in the franchise is slated for a debut in spring of 2014. The game, which is titled Spider: Rite of the Shrouded Moon, currently has an official preview site up, though it's light on content. The original Spider title won a huge number of mobile gaming awards and spent a great deal of time on the top sellers chart. After publishing The Secret of Bryce Manor, Tiger Style published the exploration game Waking Mars on desktop and mobile, but it looks like the company has grown to miss its arachnid roots. Waking Mars developer Tiger Style Games is creating a sequel to its 2009 iOS standout Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor, due for release this spring for Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android platforms. Spider: Rite of the Shrouded Moon continues the arachnid-themed platforming that defined the team's first Spider game, presenting players with a deep background narrative that slowly unfolds throughout each side-scrolling level. Few details regarding the project have been revealed so far, though Tiger Style notes that its Spider follow-up will be "bigger, better, and richer than ever before." The Android version of Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor was recently added to the ongoing Humble Mobile Bundle 3 as a bonus incentive for beating the package's average purchase price (currently a little more than $5).

The latest indie gaming charity drive allows you to simultaneously be stingy and charitable: six popular iPhone games have been discounted to 99 cents each through December 31, with one third of that lowered price (after Apple's cut) going to Child's Play. The games in the Indie iPhone Holiday Sale include Canabalt, Solipskier, Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor, Osmos, Drop7, and Eliss, all of which we can safely say are required for your iPhone to work properly. And unlike other charity game bundles, which allow you to pay what you want, these are locked at 99 cents, so you can't feel guilty for not paying more. Well, you can, but you won't be able to do anything about it.

Apple's iTunes store has listed the best-selling and top-rated apps for this third-to-last year of humanity's existence. It appears the big boys of game publishing are doing quite well on the App Store, with the ten top grossing games making room for only one independent studio. Gamasutra states Firemint's Flight Control, with its 99 cent price tag, sold 1.5 million copies and grabbed the number seven spot. The top-rated titles have much more indie spirit, as Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor, Real Racing and Zenonia wrap up the top three spots. Check out the lists for both categories after the break.
