Tales of Phantasia 2 for DS?
Rumor alert! NamcoBandai is allegedly planning a load of new, and new-ish, games in their Tales series for Nintendo consoles. The rumor gives titles for three new (potential) games, one of which is headed for the DS. If internet rumormongering is to be believed, Namco is working on a 2D sequel to the oft-ported Tales of Phantasia. We can't comment on the veracity of the rumor's specifics, but it seems likely that more Tales games are headed, in abundance, to every platform that Japanese gamers like. Not only has the series already made its dual-screened debut, RPG-spamming has been their modus operandi since before the DS was popular. Now that the most popular console in Japan by far is also the cheapest to develop for (being a handheld), continuing the trend seems like a Tale of the Obvious.
Gresso's Symphonia MP3 players for the nouveau riche
How do you make a splash in the already saturated MP3 player market? Well, there's always limited-edition pink, or how 'bout a $4,000+ luxury player which touts "craftsmanship" (not sound quality or user experience) as its primary forte? Naturally, we're talking about Gresso, the Russian outfit already infamous for their luxury cellphones. Their new Symphonia audio players all measure in at 39 x 39 x 10.5-mm making them just a touch bigger than the iRiver S7 and iPod shuffle. Each features a RAZR-esque laser-etched keypad, built-in FM tuner, and 1GB of flash memory for your MP3, WMA, ASF and OGG files. In fact, the four models only differ in materials which range from ancient hardwoods to 18 carat gold. Expected in Q2 with too-beaucoup pricing in the area of $4,000 to $6,000.
Tales of the World is hottest games video, baffles Joystiq
The writers of Joystiq are SO B1A53D!!! They showed off an amazing looking Tales of the World trailer, and the best commentary they could come up with was calling the game "Fable Lite". Lame. Us PSP fanboys know that this Tales game allows you to create your own character and go on a fantastic quest with stars of previous Tales games. Unlike the upcoming DS Tales of the Tempest, the PSP-exclusive Tales of the World will also feature downloadable levels. The commercial reveals that people that pre-order the game in Japan will receive a bonus DVD: "Lemon Gumi." Unfortunately, a US release hasn't been announced, so Tales fans like myself may be forced to simply import the game. With impressive graphics, and a cast that includes characters from Symphonia, Legendia, Phantasia, and more, it might be worth it.
