Sales for PSP titles in Japan were strong in the month of February according to data collected by Famitsu (via IGN). Four PSP games dominated the top ten, while two of them crowned the top three. Tales of the World 2: Radiant Mythology, which had been at number one for several weeks, is unsurprisingly the strongest seller for February at 288,860 units . It had beaten the month's other top portable role-playing game, Mario & Luigi RPG 3, by a mere 10K units but had a two-week lead. Konami's Winning Eleven 2009 for PSP took third place with 177,399 units sold.Idolmaster SP, which released in three different versions, ranked-in only at #7. Meanwhile, Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G stays in the top ten at #9. Yeah, you read that right. It's still selling massively, despite being a year old. It just edged out fellow three-million-club member Wii Fit at #10 by 16K units. Check after the break for the full top ten and their respective sales numbers. [Via IGN]

The Japanese software charts for the week ending February 8 don't just feature one PlayStation game at the top of the list, but four. It's a grand slam victory for Sony as titles for all of its current systems (PSP, PS3 and PS2) occupy the top four slots. Those titles happen to be two RPGs and two soccer games. 1. Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2 (PSP) - 45,000 units sold 2. Demon's Souls (PS3) - 40,000 3. Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 (PSP) - 38,000 4. Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 (PS2) - 37,000 There was one other PlayStation title that made the top-ten list, though it only came up at number seven. Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G, Japan's most popular PSP game, took the honors. It seems that game has a permanent spot on the charts, as it has dominated in sales for the majority of last year. It shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that it has just recently broken the three-million barrier.

Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2 is a total fan service title. Anyone who has played the first one could inform you on that. With that in mind, it's easy to note that the biggest factor that's going to drive people into getting Tales of the World for round two would be its cast of cameo characters. So, just who is going to make it into the new Radiant Mythology from all the other Tales games? Some of the new characters have been revealed to be: Cless Alvein (embedded above) from Tales of Phantasia, Presea Combatir from Tales of Symphonia, Guy Cecil from Tales of the Abyss, Iria Animi from Tales of Innocence and Caius Qualls from Tales of the Tempest. You can see all of them in gameplay vids after the break, along with the original character Kanonno. The game will be out in Japan by January 29. While a North American release date has yet to be even mentioned, a stateside release seems likely.

The TGS trailer for the upcoming PSP fanservice RPG, Tales of the World 2, is rather epic. Once again, this game features a number of characters from various games in the Tales universe. With the current popularity of PSP, and Japan's eternal love for the franchise, this will undoubtedly be a best-seller. %Gallery-34578%

If you regularly read this blog, then the following Namco line-up shouldn't be all that new. Namco is bringing six titles to show; these are namely: Idolmaster SP Perfect Sun, Idolmaster SP Wandering Star, Idolmaster SP Missing Moon, Macross Ace Frontier, Mobile Suit Gundam vs. Gundam and last but not least Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2. See what we mean? You've probably heard about all these before in the past few months. There doesn't seem to be any new announcements on the table -- which, we must say, is just fine. Though, it would've been way more exciting if there was some mysterious project being worked on ... something like this morning's unannounced Sony games.

It looks like Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2 has all its cameo characters accounted for. The popular ensemble of 19 guest characters from other Tales games will return in Tales of the World 2. Not only that, but it looks like they're also bringing additional friends to the party. Some of the newer cameos belong to Cless Alvein from Tales of Phantasia, and Presea Combatir from Tales of Symphonia. There are more screens of other characters over at GameWatch, do you recognize anyone?

It's time for more fanservice! Tales of the World 2 looks to bring even more traditional Tales battles to the handheld. The original looked good, but this sequel looks visually better in our eyes. With free DLC, and tons of characters, this RPG looks like it'll sweep the Japanese charts yet again.

A few more details about Tales of the World 2 were revealed today. The upcoming PSP sequel will be developed by Alfa System, the team responsible for both the first Tales of the World game and the PSP Phantasy Star Portable. According to producer Ryuuji Ohdate, the sequel is an "RPG made for you," as it's mostly constructed by user feedback. The number of characters in the game has been upped from 19 to 49, and the new character creation system is far more expansive than ever. Just like Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G, the title will feature regular free DLC -- a tactic that has worked marvelously for Capcom.[Via PSPHyper]

The first screenshots from Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2 have been released by Famitsu on their website, along with a single one from Dengeki Online. The official site has also been launched here, even though there isn't any information in it other than the game is slated for a winter release in Japan. It also appears Veigue from Tales of Rebirth will make an appearance. There isn't much to go by at this point, but take a look at the three screenshots over at PSPHyper. Surprise, surprise -- a Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2 has been announced in Japan. We were pleasantly surprised to see in this week's issue of Shonen Jump details on another Radiant Mythology game. Details are scarce at this point, but like the previous Tales of the World games, it is a crossover title with characters from different Tales games. The character count is reportedly over 50, more than double the less than 20 characters of the first game. Even the formerly exclusive Xbox 360 character Yuri Lowell from Tales of Vesperia is in it. Take a look at the other characters in the scan over at PSPHyper. The first Radiant Mythology title was released in the US, so we are hoping this sequel does the same. Stay tuned for more info![Thanks, Shawn and Saigon!]
