Telltale Games (Sam & Max, Strong Bad) CEO Dan Connors mentioned in a recent interview that WiiWare "requires the most planning" of the online console marketplaces. In fairness, though, he explains that all the current console makers' online storefronts attempt to make content relatable to the audience. Connors notes that Strong Bad was "perfect" for Nintendo, which we're sure has a little bit to do with the enhanced sales after Nintendo's "storage solution" was introduced. Connors doesn't make any further announcements for Telltale's brand of episodic gaming for the Wii, but he does say that the company will continue to evolve the adventure genre and feels the developer will continue growing the adventure genre for "years to come." A positive sign for more potential Telltale titles on the Wii front, perhaps?

Telltale continues to nail episodic gaming where others fail, releasing the second episode of its third series, and on time no less. Wallace and Gromit in The Last Resort is available now for those of you who purchased the complete $34.99 series.Because we reviewed the last one, we likely won't take up your time with a second critique. But honestly, if you weren't charmed out of your pants enough for a purchase by the first episode, then there's nothing we can do for that blackened lump of pumice you call a heart.

  • Telltale: Strong Bad sales have doubled since SD Card Menu update, more WiiWare coming

It appears that some of the kids who "boycotted" the Wii Shop Channel until Nintendo offered some kind of fix for the storage issue have, true to their word, started buying stuff. Telltale Games sent out a press release claiming that sales of the Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People series have "more than doubled" since the GDC unveiling of Nintendo's "storage solution." Telltale didn't specify any numbers -- just that whatever the rate of sales was since GDC is better than whatever the rate was before."Nintendo's new solution really opens the door for players to add to their collection of downloadable games, which is critical for a series with multiple installments," Telltale CEO Dan Connors said in the press release. "This is a major step forward for episodic gaming. We're looking forward to even greater success on WiiWare with Strong Bad, as well as other projects."Other projects!%Gallery-38849%

Sam: Whatcha got there, little buddy? Max: Why, Sam, it's a book about us? That's creepy!Telltale Games is selling the 20th anniversary edition of Sam & Max Surfin' the Highway, bundling together the 197-page graphic album with the publisher's Sam & Max episodic adventure game for the PC. The book, which has been out of print for nearly a decade, contains the complete collection of Steve Purcell's Sam & Max comics, including 25 new pages of previously unreleased artwork. The collection is currently available in paperback for $29.95, which includes both the book and a DVD containing the most recent 5-episode season of Sam & Max. A more pricey $59.95 hardcover edition is also available, which ships with both seasons tucked between its supple pages. Sam: And look, the thing was also nominated for an Eisner Award. That'll look good on the wall.Max: Yup, right next to Hitler's head!Sam: You're a scary bunny.

Our average-sized friends at BigDownload have gotten their mitts on something better than Wensleydale and crackers: the PC demo for Telltale Game's forthcoming Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures. Specifically, it's a short taste of the first of four planned monthly episodes, Fright of the Bumblebees, which hits March 24. We had a chance to check out the episode at Wonder-Con earlier this month and found it to be charming beyond belief. The demo weighs in at a modest 138MB and can be yours for the price of a trip to BigDownload, which, as it so happens, is absolutely free.

The tough thing about being the first to perfect something? Everyone else thinks they can step in and repeat what you did, only better. That's the position Telltale Games CEO Dan Connors finds himself in now. Connors says that he expects more companies to move into the episodic gaming field -- in fact, many have approached him about working on a deal. But before the beef has even started, Connors is squashing it, reminding all comers that Telltale runs the game: "I think there's still that point about people needing to understand what it is, and Telltale is always going to define its own kind of game." We know he was talking about literal games rather that the game of the streets, but we're just going to pretend.

Telltale Games has stepped forth and dropped the knowledge. Said knowledge is a March 24 release date for the PC version of its upcoming episodic series Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures. If that sounds like too long to wait, know that a demo of the game will arrive on March 16 exclusively on Yahoo! Games. As if that weren't enough, Telltale has revealed that those who pre-order the title will receive a full episode of both Sam & Max and Strong Bad's CG4AP. The episodes, if you're curious, are "Ice Station Santa" from Sam & Max and "Dangeresque 3: The Criminal Projective" for Strong Bad. On top of all that, there's even a new trailer of the game in action.Watch the digital claymation goodness after the break.[Thanks, StLouisRibs7734]%Gallery-39989%

Sam and Max are ready to hit the road (ouch!) and make themselves available for freelance detective work on Xbox Live Arcade. Telltale has announced that the previously released first two seasons of adventure for the dog detective and his psychotic rabbity-thing partner are "upcoming," but no dates nor pricing have been revealed.Sam & Max: Save the World and Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space will be the new XBLA names given to seasons one and two, respectively. The titles will be released as full-season bundles -- we hear that winter is a real pain to pack in there.%Gallery-6517%

Following last week's announcement that purveryors of fine adventure gaming, Telltale Games, would be making its long-awaited Xbox Live Arcade debut with the upcoming Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures, we spoke with Telltale's CEO and founder, Dan Connors to learn more about the move. We talk about the company's platform strategy (iPhone?), its success with the capacity-challenged WiiWare service, and plans to bring older Telltale games to newly supported platforms like XBLA. So grab some cheese and/or your favorite sociopathic lagomorph and strap in for an interview more outrageously exciting than a T-Rex flying a biplane through a no-fly zone!Joystiq: Xbox Live Arcade – why now? You guys have been around for a while and you've obviously done GameTap, you've done PC, you've done Wii and WiiWare. So why XBLA and why now?Dan Connors: Well, I think it's just kind of happened in the natural growth of the company. We started in 2004 and we were eight people in an office and we've progressively grown. Each time – when we first launched on the PC, it was a challenge; and when we first launched on WiiWare, it was a huge challenge; and now getting everything to the place where we're self-publishing on WiiWare and now Xbox Live Arcade, it's just a great accomplishment for the company and opening up more channels.%Gallery-39989%

Telltale has just ended the speculation about the choice of platforms for its next episodic adventure game series, Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures. The first entry will be released this spring on PC and Xbox Live Arcade. According to Telltale's press release, Wallace & Gromit's Xbox availability is the first step in an "expansion" to XBLA, and the company "plans to announce additional titles for Xbox Live Arcade in the coming months." Along with the announcement, Telltale sent out new screens of the game, which look perfect. With the help of our super-intelligent dog, we've built a ridiculous Rube Goldberg contraption to move them into a gallery for you. Now let's celebrate -- with cheese!%Gallery-39989%

  • VC Friday: Fun! Fun! Strong Bad!

With our shelves and Wii fridges creaking under the weight of new games from the holidays, Nintendo has generously given PAL gamers a week to catch their breath -- at least, we think that's the idea. Both WiiWare titles this week probably only appeal to a handful of people. The fifth and final episode of Strong Bad Episode 5 is great, obviously, but only if you're in the teensy minority who grabbed the first four instalments. Meanwhile, Fun! Fun! Minigolf is allegedly so fun that maker Shin'en felt the need to tell us of its fun-ness twice over. But is a zany-looking chibi minigolf game really the title to stop us from getting our fingers gooey? Hint: no.
