The rumored Tex Murphy Kickstarter has been confirmed, to the tune of $216,000 (out of $450k as of this writing). That's how much creators Chris Jones and Aaron Conners have put together already to make the long-awaited "Project Fedora," the next in the cult classic series of full motion video sci-fi noir titles. You can get a copy of the (eventual) game just by backing at the price of $15, and there are lots of other rewards for higher payments, including a collector's edition, new commentary for the old Tex Murphy games, and even the chance to beta test and be in the game itself. The creators say that the game will have full-motion video, but it will also include a 3D game world, with branching paths of story to follow. As Tex says in the wild Kickstarter video, "it's hat-in-hand time," so go over and give if you want to get in early.

TeX is a typesetting standard that, among other things, allows you to typeset complex math formulas. One flavor of Tex is LaTeX, for which LaTeXiT serves as a front-end for on Mac OS X. Using LaTeXiT, one can drag and drop complex math formulas to a number of apps -- Pages, Keynote and TextEdit, to name a few. While the LaTeXiT workflow is fairly simple and straightforward, getting it setup and running may not prove to be the most clear-cut and easy process.

Japan's Sotec is kicking out a duo a new desktops and a stark white laptop, and while the specifications on the trio aren't anything to phone home about, they could indeed fit the bill if you're budget is tight. The WinBook WH5513P series contains an Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 CPU, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 120GB hard drive, a 15.4-inch 1,280 x 800 resolution LCD, and a few hot keys to give you one-touch access to your email and the internet. Additionally, you'll find a dual-layer DVD writer, 802.11a/b/g, and Windows Vista running the show. On the desktop front (shown after the jump), the PC Station BJ series sports a slim, compact form factor, an Intel Celeron D, Pentium 4, or Core 2 Duo E4300 depending on model, up to 1GB of DDR2 RAM, between 250GB and 320GB of HDD space, a dual-layer DVD burner, Windows Vista, and a number of matching displays between 17- and 22-inches. The PC Station BX micro-tower includes Intel's E4300 or E6320 Core 2 Duo CPU, Vista, a gig of RAM, integrated Intel graphics, and a PCI-Express slot. All three units are slated to ship later this week, and while prices vary depending on configuration, none of them are apt to break the bank.[Via Impress]
