Bungie Director of Production Jonty Barnes just announced at Gamescom that Destiny's first expansion, The Dark Below, will arrive in December, just a few months after the game officially launches. Bungie also released a new competitive multiplayer trailer. Aliens are threatening our way of life and our very existence, but that doesn't mean that we can't take a break from combating this common threat and squabble amongst ourselves, right? Destiny will allow just that with its competitive multiplayer mode, also known as "PvP" if you're new to MMOs. This game mode will take place in the Crucible, a skirmish arena full of good hidey-holes and a ton of objectives for teams to accomplish. There will be special gear that can be attained by duking it out, so at least you have that justification when your commanding officer asks why you're not out there fighting the invaders. The video is below.

For better or worse, Silicon Knights has finally kicked Too Human out of the nest, seemingly not too concerned about whether it will actually fly with most gamers. In fact, while the developer still intends to finish off the planned trilogy, it's not going to be doing so anytime soon.Speaking with CVG, SK boss Denis Dyack confirmed that his studio's next game is going to be "Like nothing else we've ever made before." The dev has been working on a new title for Sega, which not too long ago was allegedly leaked in video form under the title The Crucible. Sega was quick to deny any connection between SK and a game with that name – which would be good for Dyack, since it was clearly a third-person action/horror game. You know, totally unlike Eternal Darkness."We've been lucky enough to make Legacy of Kain, Eternal Darkness, Too Human ... and if you look at all of those they're all really different," Dyack said of SK's plans for its new IP. "We want to continue to do that, to keep fresh. That's really what's important, and making sure that we continue to make new IPs but also continue to innovate in the genres that we try to... create content in." We think it's safe to assume that, whatever this totally fresh new project is, it won't be using the Unreal Engine.

And another company responds to the massive Intellisponse information leak. This time its Sega commenting on the video of a game called Crucible: The Evil Within, allegedly a title under development by Silicon Knights with Sega as publisher. According to Sega representative Steve Groll, who was speaking with MTV's Multiplayer, the video leaked earlier this week is not a video of the game Silicon Knights is developing for Sega. "That video is not the game that Silicon Knights is creating for us. I have no idea if it is a game they are working on for someone else, but it's definitely not the project that Silicon Knights and SEGA are producing," said Groll, adding that the name of the Sega project is not The Crucible either.Joystiq notes that Sega did file a software trademark for "The Crucible: Evil Within" in April of 2007. It was allegedly an action horror game, which certainly fits Silicon Knights' modus operandi. Looks like we'll have to wait and see what becomes of The Crucible.[Via Joystiq]

Sega has swiftly denied the assumed identity of a leaked video thought to be the publisher's Silicon Knights collaboration, possibly titled, The Crucible: Evil Within. "That video is not the game that Silicon Knights is creating for us," Sega's Steve Groll told MTV Multiplayer. "I can't reveal any info about the game we currently have in development, but I can tell you that it is not titled The Crucible."It's worth noting that Sega owns a software trademark (filed April 2007) for "The Crucible: Evil Within," which has been rumored to be the title of a Silicon Knights' horror game, previously known as "The Box" and in development for several years. In December 2006, Sega issued a survey describing an action-horror game involving an "ancient chest." Recipients were asked to choose a title from the list: The Box, The Gift, The Sacrament, or Crucible.
