If you've been wondering why we haven't heard much about The Secret World lately, it's because the Illuminati control every word that the media says. Well, that, and Funcom's been working on a groovy video to show off their newly-revealed London hub. London is the headquarters of the Templars, and new players associated with that faction will be sent there straight away. Executive Producer Ragnar Tørnquist explains that London is a bit unique of the three starter hubs in that it's the oldest, most steeped in legend, and where members of all three factions come to fight and frolic. Funcom also discussed a special aspect of the new player experience. A mysterious figure known as The Fallen King sends them into a vision of their future, where players can get a taste of advanced combat right off the bat. Combat and grouping mechanics are a key part of The Secret World, which is why Funcom wants players to start learning earlier rather than later. You can watch the full seven-and-a-half minute trailer after the jump! var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/gaming_news/Prince_of_Persia_out_on_Dec_2'; Ubisoft has confirmed that its new, aesthetically alluring Prince of Persia adventure will be purifying that dubious stack of plastic cases you call a game collection on December 2nd, 2008. The absurdly agile protagonist and his lithe lady friend, Elika, will be putting Ahriman (you know, typically disgruntled god thing) in his place on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.If you'd prefer to get your hands on a slightly more adorable variant of the wall-running scrambler, you'll want to check out the DS' Prince of Persia: The Fallen King, which releases on the same day.%Gallery-23908%%Gallery-26241%

  • Prince of Persia: The Fallen King's stock is rising

Okay, so the character art for Prince of Persia: The Fallen King falls between chibi and noooooo. And the bright, colorful environments don't fit in either the new, serious-business Prince of Persia franchise or the classic side-scrolling series. And, in fact, it doesn't look all that hot in stills.Despite all that, and against all odds, The Fallen King looks amazing in motion. It's somewhere between the original Prince of Persia and a Mario game, with stylus integration (the one part about which we aren't quite sure). The smooth movements recall the famous rotoscoped animations found in the original game, the levels look interesting and varied, and the aesthetic actually gives the whole thing a sort of storybook feel that fits with the concept of The Sands of Time. It's kind of too bad: we were so comfortable hating this game.%Gallery-26239%

  • A deeper look at Prince of Persia

While it's uncertain that anyone would really want to take a deeper look at Prince of Persia: The Fallen King, there are usually some masochists out there willing to take one for everyone else.Oh, wait. That's us. Damn. Well, we looked. And maybe this look has merit in motion, as many DS games just don't look great in stills, but the problem here really seems to be the muddiness of the shots. Sometimes, it just seems like everything is running together, and that's just not attractive. Others look better, just with dwarfed characters. They're tiny. It'll be interesting, to say the least, when we at last see video on this one.%Gallery-26239%

  • Ubisoft unveils Prince of Persia: The Fallen King for DS

As promised, Ubisoft has unveiled a portable companion piece to this holiday's new-gen Prince of Persia, dubbing the pint-sized platformer "Prince of Persia: The Fallen King." Featuring an independent storyline and "unique stylus controls" (natch), The Fallen King sees the agile -- and now adorable -- acrobat foiling a mean ol' corruption that has encroached on every corner of the kingdom. Presumably, you'll also help some sort of king to get up.Joining the prince in his wall-running adventures is "mysterious new ally" and playable character, Magus. He'll (it'll?) apparently use magical powers to help you overcome all manner of devious traps and puzzles. With the aid of Ubisoft's Casablanca studio, this little prince will join his big brother on shelves just in time for Holiday 2008.%Gallery-26241%

  • Prince of Persia: The Fallen franchise

Ubisoft announced a Prince of Persia game exclusive to our favorite handheld, titled The Fallen King. The storyline will be independent to any other Prince of Persia title, involving "imminent danger," a "deserted kingdom," "evil," "corruption," a "dark substance," "adventure," "intrigue," and a number of other clichés. You can expect the game to be heavy on the stylus action, and the player will have the ability to switch between the Prince and the Magus, a mysterious magic wielder. Now, normally we might show a little excitement for an upcoming Prince of Persia title. After the software's assets made us vomit out of our eyeballs, though, it was easy to subdue any inkling of "woot" hoping to flee from our bodies. If the screenshot above isn't enough inclination of the slippery slope this game is heading down, check out the character art in the gallery below. The chibi-style Prince just isn't working for us. Perhaps we're being too harsh (what, us?), but we think Ubisoft deserves a little flak for this one. Hopefully the company will improve upon a few things before The Fallen King releases this holiday season. Even so, we always like to give the gameplay the benefit of the doubt, and we'll be keeping our eyes on this one as it develops.%Gallery-26239%[Thanks, jojomcjojostein!]
