I'm just warning you.Zaneosak over on YouTube has put together a video that's pretty much a final conclusion to some things in the Icecrown Citadel in patch 3.3. Is it the final explanation? Well, let's take a look at the video behind the cut and then discuss it.
WoW Moviewatch: The Scourge - Episode I trailer
Fal Bulon has a new, upcoming series called The Scourge. In case you don't recognize the name, Fal Bulon is the same German author who brought us Revenge of Akama. Like his previous work, "The Scourge" is spoken in German, and subtitled in English. We only have a trailer to look at right now, but we can be hopeful for the upcoming movie. "The Scourge" has the same high-end production values we saw in "Revenge of Akama." The action is distinct and effective. Fal Bulon uses the lighting in his scenery to lend urgency and intensity to his characters. Overall, it was definitely fun to watch. The trailer doesn't have a lot of plot indications, which is probably fine for a trailer. We know that the Scourge are attacking, and the orcs and humans are both caught up in it. We have epic indications of leaders making hard choices, and we have a whole bunch of fighting. (Knowing is half the battle, but the other half always comes down to fighting.) Ultimately, this is a great trailer, and I can't wait to see the movie. WoW Moviewatch: The Scourge trailer
We're sticking with our theme of preparation for Wrath of the Lich King by looking at the trailer for Cold Entertainment's upcoming The Scourge. "The Scourge" is a two man-project about a peasant who's involved with the Scourge war just before Warcraft 3. The antagonist will be affected, of course, and doesn't stay "a good guy" through the events of the movie. The trailer definitely worked to get my interest. I liked the dark and gloomy animation style, and the use of heartbeats to underscore tension. The trailer does have a few cliches, like the angsty-man-kneels-by-a-tombstone. But these things are cliches for a reason, and the trope communicates that some tragedy is affecting the central character. And since genre pieces are almost always character-driven, focus on the antagonist is valid and to be encouraged. My only real criticism of the trailer would be pacing. The fades between action/imagery to verbiage then back to action/imagery are a little slower than I'd like them to be. The narrative hook is lost in the long transitions, and we have to be re-engaged several times throughout the trailer. WoW Moviewatch: Lingering Memory
Hey there, I'm the new WoW Moviewatch blogger since Moo unfortunately had to leave our hallowed halls. My first pick is a new film by Count Vrenna called Lingering Memory. The story follows a young Paladin's conflict with The Scourge at Caer Darrow. It's told without dialog or voiceover, with just a few titles by way of setup and some emotional music to carry the mood. Count Vrenna asserts that this is his first time filming large battle scenes, but I wouldn't have guessed if he hadn't told me. The last scene showing rows of Death Knights -- including one of the Naaru, just like we find in Ebon Hold -- is chilling in its inevitability. Another scene I liked is where the hero confronts her fate and memories of her life flash before her eyes. It reminds me somewhat of Here Without You but without the love story.
