Thanks to the touch and power of the internet, Stan Bush's classic Transformers: The Movie ballad, "The Touch," is heading to Guitar Hero -- for free. The drive started when Kotaku blogger, Michael Fahey, refused to give up on helping Bush see his wish to have the song featured in Guitar Hero and/or Rock Band granted. After exchanging emails with Bush himself, Fahey looked to his blog's readers to pester Activision and Harmonix until one (or both) caved. Earlier this week, Bush contacted Transformers resource site, Seibertron, and dropped the bomb: "The Touch" would be made available in Guitar Hero -- presumably World Tour -- for free (exactly when, though, is still unknown). The grateful Bush then wrote in to personally thank Fahey and the fans who made it all possible. Oh internet, is there anything you can't do?

Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith) may be playing the voice of Megatron in Micheal Bay's upcoming Transformers film adaptation, but he won't voice him in the game. Normally a cast change for a movie-based game is a bad thing, but this change may actually please fans. Frank Welker, who voiced Megatron in the original animated series will reprise the role for the game. This means that the game will have the original voices for both Optimus Prime and Megatron. Activision has said that the reason for the voice change was to please Transformers fans. While I don't doubt that motive, I'm sure they saved a few pennies by using Welker instead of Weaving. Paramount and Dreamworks Pictures have launched the official web site for the Transformers movie, which is scheduled to open next year on July 4. Activision will be publishing the official game to coincide with the film's release, although they still haven't chosen a developer. While the game won't ship until 2007, Gamecube and Xbox owners determined to wait for next-gen console price drops won't have to miss the action with Optimus Prime, Omega Supreme, and Soundwave (Joystiq reader favs).
