Sony Computer Entertainment of Europe is in talks with Sky, trying to get it to distribute content for PSP users. Programs that are broadcast by Sky in the UK and Ireland include 24, Lost, The Simpsons, Deadwood, and more. This partnership will be crucial for Sony's plans in educating the general public about the multimedia functionality of Sony's handheld. The service will supposedly launch by year's end. There's no indication that Sony Computer Entertainment of America will follow suit with a similar program.[Via PALGN]

One of the two TV shows needed to bring women to high definition is now going 720p. The View will switch to HDTV format September 5 as they add new host Rosie O'Donnell. While Oprah is still in SD, ABC also broadcasts Good Morning America in high def. Jessica Simpson will be a special guest on the episode, in case you needed a better reason to get up before noon other than seeing Barbara Walters (but not Star Jones) in 720 stunning vertical lines of resolution. With MHD, Food Network and now daytime television following primetime programming to HDTVs, the day when your mother/daughter/sister calls you to ask "What do you think about LCD vs. plasma TVs?" draws that much closer.

Dustin Diamond, aka "Screech" from the "hit" television series Saved by the Bell is going through some tough times. He hasn't had a "career" since his teen acting days, he's losing his house, and now... he's lost his precious PSP games (to quote "good games.") According to his account on a Florida radio station, a woman broke into his hotel room with some mace, grabbed his PSP games and ran out. He tried to stop her, but she yelled "rape" and ran away.If you feel sorry for the guy, go and buy a t-shirt from him.(This incredible non-news story was brought to you by our sister site, TV Squad. Let's never do a crossover with them ever again.)

  • Turn that Mac mini into a media center - finally

When the mini was announced, about the only person NOT thinking "media center Mac" was Bill Gates. I immediately bought one, and I bought the then-new El Gato EyeTV with that ATI logo on it (the full name escapes me). That El Gato box is ugly, gets hot, and didn't really do what I wanted... So now El Gato has a new version of their baseline TV input device out, and this time it has a remote! So, between a big hard drive, the El Gato EyeTV EZ, and a Mac mini Core Duo, you finally have a nearly-perfect Mac-based media center. And to help you set it all up, there's Chris Hamady's excellent page on his Media Center Macintosh Project. Great. So what the heck am I going to do with my old rig?Chris sets up his EZ with the mini, and it works great, in no small part because of that nifty remote (curse you El Gato!). He adds a big honkin' hard drive for all that sweet, sweet pep. Then he rips his DVD's using Handbrake, so his collection is accessible using Front Row. To top it all off, he puts XP on there (complete with some security measures). I guess he can use his Windows boot for watching those nifty CNN videos...

What we're watching: You know we're watching Lost, why even ask? King James and his band of merry men take on the Detroit Pistons at 8 p.m., unfortunately ESPN left their SkyCams at home. We don't usually watch Veronica Mars, but TVSquad says this is a great episode for new viewers to jump into the series on. Maybe its worth a shot at 8 p.m. on UPN as they replay last night's episode. We need a new Wednesday night fix since (after tonight) Lost is all repeats until May.Our traditional high-def listings continue below.

  • HDTV: The plane that most Lost viewers never saw

Our peeps over at TV Squad alerted us to something that the SD viewers of "Lost" didn't see this week. In a dream sequence that Charlie has, there is a plane crashing on the left side of the screen; it takes a 16:9 screen to see it, so you 4:3 viewers, here's the plane that you heard but never saw. Isn't it time to get rid of that squarish, clunker of an analog set? Without  HD, all of the super-cool widescreen effects are just "Lost" on you!Read (via TV Squad)

  • Is Lost challenging My Name is Earl for king of the easter eggs?

While we were watching last weeks Earl for Easter Eggs (I didn't notice any), maybe we should have been checking another one of our favorite high definition shows more closely, Lost. Luckily TV Squad is more than willing to dissect each frame looking for clues about the survivors, the mysterious island they are on and the Dharma Initiative. After careful (re)viewing they noticed a date in the future on an X-ray shown during Jack's flashback. A mistake/red herring or something more? Additionally, during that episode some viewers could see the makeup covering Jack's tattoo, wonder why that is. Maybe they should have called our friends at Numeric Proof or they wanted us to notice. I can't call it, but rest assured, I'll be going over Grey's Anatomy tonight with a fine toothed comb.
