If the grindhouse-inspired, profanity-laced writing of The Typing of the Dead: Overkill offended you, maybe you should just chill out. It's not like it's supposed to be Shakespeare or anything. Now, the new Shakespeare DLC pack? That's Shakespeare, and you can feel free to hold it to a higher standard. The Typing of the Dead: Overkill's Shakespeare DLC replaces the game's default typing prompts with quotes ripped from old Shakesey himself. All your old favorite are here, from "Alas, poor Yorick!" to "A horse, a horse..." and much, much more. It's a midsummer night's scream up in here, and it's priced at $2.99. This week also brings a free update for The Typing of the Dead: Overkill, adding a new competitive story mode and a collection of multiplayer minigames.

S-C-R-E-A-M! Sega has sprung a surprise release of The Typing of the Dead: Overkill on Steam. Available half-off for $10 through November 1, the game fuses the House of the Dead series with a typing tutor. A typing tutor that teaches you that if you don't learn to write 60 WPM you're going to be zombie chow. This typing tutor also comes with a "full and faithful port" of the original PS3 edition of House of the Dead. There are also plans to add a two-player co-op multiplayer "shortly after launch as free DLC." The game will go up to its regular price of $20 after Halloween.

  • Japan's new Typing of the Dead is all about finding a livelihood

Sega is releasing a new PC version of its classic typing-based shooter The Typing of the Dead tomorrow in Japan. The Typing of the Dead: Featuring Minna no Shuushoku Katsudou Nikki is mostly the same game we know from the Dreamcast, except it differs in word selection. Sega surveyed members of Minna no Shuushoku Katsudou Nikki (Everyone's Job Hunting Diary), a job placement site, to gather a selection of 3,000 job search-related terms, to be used in the minigames in the new "Job Hunting Mode." There's also some kind of new "mystery" written by a Japanese comedian. In a way, this new collaboration makes a kind of warped sense. Not only is fast, accurate typing a valuable job skill, we can imagine there being great therapeutic value in destroying zombies that represent aspects of your ongoing search for employment. Like the "disability income" and "stagnant air" zombies above (our best guess for translation).

  • Wii to fret over 'Rock of the Dead'

All you really need to know about Rock of the Dead is that it's -- as the developers at Epicenter (Real Heroes: Firefighters) describe -- Typing of the Dead meets Guitar Hero. Judging by the build demonstrated to IGN, the game allows you to use a Rock Band or Guitar Hero ax to chop through the legions of the undead. Obviously, a guitar peripheral will be mandatory, though the developer is preparing contingency plan should Nintendo frown upon the requirement. There's quite a bit of nerdy star power behind the game, with Neil Patrick Harris voicing the main character and Felicia Day featuring as the love interest. Rock of the Dead, which aims for a "cheesy/campy" feel throughout, will be budget-priced between $30 and $40 when it shambles into retail "late spring or early summer." [Via 1UP]

  • Sega: More Dead games if you buy 2 & 3 Return

According to JeuxFrance, Sega is dangling quite the juicy carrot in front of our faces. They say that should enough people pick up House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return, they'll hook us Wii gamers up with House of the Dead 4. Not only that, but they're supposedly promising to bring the Typing of the Dead games to the console, as well. We're going to keep this labeled as a rumor, for the time being. Why? Well, it's not like JeuxFrance sources anything for this bit of information, so we're going to remain a bit skeptical, even though we'd love for Sega to hook us up with more Dead games.%Gallery-10506%
