We just heard a couple of weeks ago that Samsung's Rogue and Intensity phones would be landing on Verizon sometime soon, and then we heard again that they'd be making their debut on September 8th and -- wouldn't you know it -- they've now both made their debut on September 8th. The higher-end of two is the Rogue U960, which replaces the Samsung Glyde and packs the same slide-out QWERTY keypad as before, along with a 3.1-inch AMOLED resistive touchscreen, a 3 megapixel camera with LED flash, a microSD card slot and, of course, the usual TouchWiz interface. The Intensity U450, on the other hand, hangs onto the sliding QWERTY keyboard for easy texting but drops the touchscreen altogether, and keeps things fairly lightweight all around, including a 1.3 megapixel camera, and not so much as EV-DO for data. Of course, it also comes with an equally lightweight price (free on a two-year contract), while the Rogue will set you back $99.99 on the same contract.

  • Samsung's u960 Rogue for Verizon has best name ever; looks alright, too

The word "Rogue" conjures images of awesome X-Men characters, small Nissan SUVs, and badasses who don't take crap from nobody -- but QWERTY sliders on Verizon? We'll admit, we didn't see that one coming. The would-be Glyde replacement is apparently lined up for a release date around the 15th of August, and we're seeing it now for the first time in pristine press shots following some in-the-wild action early in the month. We can tell already that it's going to be a better-looking phone than its predecessor, and the word on the street is that it works as good as it looks; if anything, it's a shame they didn't just go ahead and slap WinMo on here and call it an Omnia Pro. Can't win 'em all, we suppose.

Samsung's launch of the Glyde was, well, far less than stellar -- but hey, second time's a charm, right? Shots have surfaced from HowardForums of what's apparently the Glyde 2 / u960. Looks like we've got a more expansive keyboard that makes better use of space on the bottom slide out, some TouchWiz action on the screen, and unsurprisingly a nice, big Verizon logo just above the screen. Nope, we don't have a release date or official confirmation of any sorts, so for now just hang tight on the farthest edge of your seat and feel free to browse the other shots of the device in the gallery below.[Via Phone Arena]
