Vanguard Game Update 6 goes live, adds free trial/newbie area
One thousand. That's how many bug fixes are in Vanguard's sixth game update, which has now gone live. In addition to the fixes, there's a new newbie area for levels one through ten called the Isle of Dawn. Word is that it will eventually serve as a free trial setting. For now, though, it's just an easy place to get a new character started.SOE also redid character models, offering new customization options and making some changes that lower the models' system performance hit. You can keep your old look if you want, though.The most controversial changes are a whole slew of class damage adjustments. SOE looked at every single class in the game and adjusted its damage output to ensure "that each lands in their correct place in the spectrum of classes." Vanguard game update 6 coming soon!
The sixth huge game update to Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is coming soon to a server near you! We've appreciated what Vanguard has to offer for some time here at Massively, so it's great to see such a big improvement coming to the game. The developers have had these changes in the works for some time; we first got a taste of this coming down the line way back at the beginning of summer. The official website says that Game Update 6 could be coming as soon as next week! The bug fixes alone are too numerous to mention. Here are the big ticket items that are new since Game Update 5: Character Model Updates - The wonky-looking character avatars players have had since the game launched are getting a complete overhaul. Men will be 'beefier' looking, while woman have had their 'feminine features' enhanced. While that sounds kind of strange, almost anything would be better than what the players have right now. New Player Experience Upgrade - The much-vaunted Isle of Dawn will soon be added to the world of Telon! Players new and old will be able to start new characters on that special island, experiencing all-new content up through level 10. State of the Game letter issued for Vanguard: Saga of Heroes
The development team for Vanguard: Sage of Heroes has released a brand new Producer's Letter offering up a state of the game. Despite the long history of problems and pitfalls plaguing the game, the team seems optimistic about their near-future projects. They've opened up a new win-back program, allowing canceled and closed accounts to come back and check on the game's progress. They're working on a brand new Game Update, GU6, which will offer up another large swath of content. They're also making plans to finally introduce the free trial Vanguard players have long asked for. The Isle of Dawn will be a brand new starting zone for new players, a new hub city for existing players, and the central element of the trial. Finally, the already-impressive graphical presentation in the game is going to receive some modifications. You may recall that back in Update 4 some customization options were removed to make way for helmets and future improvements. Those improvements are apparently now on the way, and they plan to stagger the new character models as they come to the players. According to the letter, "Vanguard is a game about heroes. It's right there in the title even – Saga of Heroes. We're making it so players' character models look more heroic than they have in the past.
