We've got another pair on the Virtual Console (will we never return to the three-game glory days of yore?) and they don't seem to have too much in common. Let's just skip to the talking about them, what do you say? Spelunker (NES, 1 player, 500 Wii Points): In Spelunker, you play an adventurer who travels to the world's most junk-littered caves to do a little clean up to try to impress a girl he likes who's also a Greenpeace member. Meanwhile, bats (which love cave junk, because of how much easier it makes echolocation) try to kill you. ... Or something like that. Super R-Type (Super NES, 1 player, 800 Wii Points): If you don't want to put your fist through a wall, you'd probably best avoiding Super R-Type, known for its high difficulty and lack of check points. But maybe you want to put your fist through a wall. Maybe you have a dilapidated wall that needs removing, or are considering adding some new fist-shaped windows. If so, Super R-Type is there for you.

Nintendo takes a backseat this week while three third-party titles are launched for Wii's Virtual Console. Tecmo, which promised aggressive support back in August, has released its NFL license-free (and not-so-super) Tecmo Bowl ($5) for NES. The other two titles we already knew were coming: Sonic Spinball ($8) for Sega Genesis and Double Dungeons ($6) for TurboGrafx 16.Though there is no specific VC release schedule (a predicament both Nintendo and Microsoft's downloadable services unfortunately share), we do know that Splatterhouse, Vectorman, and Beyond Oasis have been promised for this month.

Ah yes, another Monday and another update to the Virtual Console. Today's update provides us three tasty morsels of retro-gaming goodness in Tennis (NES), Space Harrier II (Genesis) and Military Madness (TG-16). All of our socks were collectively rocked at the sight of new games here at the Fanboy offices, however our duties keep us from downloading and enjoying them. How about you fine readers? Any of you out there on the intertron give these games a download and try them out? Or are you usually a late participant in Virtual Console Mondays?
