It's official... sort of. We officially know when we'll know the Warlords of Draenor release date (August 14th), though we don't know the date itself. Blizzard originally told us we'd be playing Warlords by this fall, with the official pre-order page saying the game will be released "on or before 12/20/2014." On Amazon, the official strategy guide has a release date of September 23rd, though that could be a guess on Amazon's part as well (Amazon's predicted date for Warlords itself is December 20th). So armed with this information, it's time to step up and take your guess: Just when do you think Warlords of Draenor will be released? %Poll-89006%

The wait for Warlords of Draenor is coming to a close. No, we don't have a release date yet, but Blizzard has promised that they'll be releasing the release date on August 14th alongside the reveal of the expansion's cinematic. The announcement will be done during a live stream event featuring Mike Morhaime, Chris Metzen, Ion Hazzikostas, and Brian Holinka broadcast from the Ace Theatre in Los Angeles at 9:30 AM PDT on August 14th. If you're in the LA area, you can see the event in person -- doors open at 8:30 AM and seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis -- and get a Warlords beta key out of the deal, too. Additionally, Blizzard will be unveiling a new animated lore mini-series called Lords of War, which we're guessing will be similar to the Burdens of Shaohao series released during Mists -- but we'll have to wait to August 14th to see just what it will look like.

  • New PvP season planned before Warlords of Draenor

Senior PvP Designer Brian Holinka has confirmed that the developers are planning an additional PvP season before the end of Mists of Pandaria, and therefore, before the launch of Warlords of Draenor. .@Shaee33 @Matteygf We're planning an additional PvP season for mists. Details on end of season rewards, timeline, & new gear to come soon. - Holinka (@holinka) January 7, 2014 Of course, this has implications for PvP, but a lot of players will look at this news and immediately start wondering what it means for the Warlords of Draenor release date. Let's look back at previous PvP season lengths. We're currently 16 weeks into season 14, season 13 was 26 weeks, season 12 was 22 weeks. The last season of Cataclysm, season 11, which ran alongside Dragon Soul, was a fairly epic 38 weeks. Its two predecessors, seasons 9 and 10, were 28 and 21 weeks respectively. Can we therefore predict the length of season 15? Not really, but we can confidently say it's likely to be over 20 weeks. Bearing in mind that we're 16 weeks into season 14, we may well have another 4+ weeks to go, meaning that season 14 will end at best February 4, so a 20-week duration would put season 15's end on July 1. This would be highly optimistic. (Edit: And as commenters add, the season end has previously marked the pre-patch, not the expansion itself.) But apart from the expansion, what does it mean for PvP?

  • Ghostcrawler: "Feels like we are farther along for WoD than we were for MoP"

There has been rampant speculation as to when World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor will be coming out -- and all of it is just that, speculation. We have very little evidence of anything being said by anyone. However, there have been some off the cuff remarks dropped here and there. One such remark was made by Ghostcrawler tonight. He compared the development state of Warlords of Draenor to that of Mists of Pandaria. Put simply, he feels that they're further along in Warlord's design and development than they were in Mists at this time. Take that for what you will, or won't. Don't read into Ghostcrawler's tea leaves too much, or he'll start posting this picture on Twitter.
