Sonic Wildfire in development for two years?!
Go Nintendo has an interesting snippet taken from issue #6 of the UK Official Nintendo Magazine where Sonic Wildfire is discussed. Apparently in development for two years, the game is based off of Arabian Nights and will follow Sonic as he adventures through a book and looks to go back to the roots of the title by instilling that sense of speed once again. The game also will see the return of Dr. Robotnik Eggman and is to feature even more ways to use the Wiimote than were presented in the E3 demo.Yojiro Ogawa also expressed some interest in bringing another franchise to the Wii in the article. Thinking that it is "fantastic hardware," he would like to bring a new franchise, completely unrelated to Sonic, to the console, utilizing the entire spectrum of capabilities the Wiimote offers.
Sonic Wildfire teaser site opens
Sega has launched a teaser site for the upcoming Sonic Wildfire which links to a short film of the blue speed demon holding a Wiimote. While the site is rather remiss to reveal anything we actually care to know about the title, it's a place holder for future information, and I guess we'll just have to accept that for now.[Thanks Hobbes!]
Sonic Wildfire for Wii announced
Hours before the Nintendo press conference, set to take place at 9:00 AM PST time today, Sega announced their latest Wii title, Sonic Wildfire. The storyline has an odd literary twist: the last pages from the book Arabian Nights have gone missing, and "it's up to Sonic to re-create the story -- an odd setting, for sure, and we are hoping to see some impressive landscapes and lush oases as backdrop. The Wiimote will be used in a horizontal fashion: "Hold the controller horizontally with two hands and tilt left and right to steer Sonic on different paths and maneuver deftly from obstacles and enemies. Continue to tilt and fling forward to dash-attack ground and air enemies and to break down barriers." With Nintendo's press conference minutes away, we should find out more soon. Stay tuned.
Dave Chappelle, Wildfire in iTunes
The good news: Dave Chappelle is in the iTunes Music Store. The bad news: It's not his show from Comedy Central. "I'm Rick James..." Well, you know how it goes. The Chappelle video [iTunes link] is a nearly one hour stand up special he filmed for Showtime, and costs $1.99.Wildfire [iTunes link] is an ABC Family series (I admit I've never seen it), and seasons 1 and 2 are both available.
