Creative restores FM recording to its players
About a month ago, everyone was sad that Creative had removed the ability to record FM radio directly from its Zen MicroPhoto and Zen Vision:M (pictured) players. We even poured out a fo'ty in memoriam once we heard the news. However, Davin P, an observant reader (and we assume Zen owner), pointed out that today, Creative released an update to the firmware, version 1.60.01. This update restores FM recording, and adds the feature we've all been pining for, Greek language support. We'll be dancing the Tsamiko all weekend long to celebrate both additions.[Thanks, Davin P.]
Creative lets us know there's a new player coming
While the press, analysts and fanboys continue to grovel at the feet of Apple and Microsoft for the tiniest little scrap of rumor regarding the next portable announcement, Creative has resorted to drumming up a little bit of their own hype in advance of a new audio player release. The "Mystery MP3 Player" looks like it will be unveiled during their upcoming sale promotion, going on from June 23-25. "Tiny with a price to match!" gives us a feeling they're going flash, and will hopefully be moving their Zen Vision:M niceties into something small enough (and cheap enough) to compete with the iPod nano. We sure wouldn't mind a Portable Media Center 2 offering from Creative, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards this time around.
