Skype for Pocket PC, make free phone calls with a Pocket PC
Today Skype launched its new free Skype for Windows Version 1.0 software, which includes SkypeOut, so that Skype
users can make pre-paid calls to any phone number in the world (it's still free to call other Skype users). Also
included in Skype 1.0 is a new file transfer feature and other software enhancements. New beta versions of Skype for
Linux and a new version of Skype for Pocket PCs with the SkypeOut feature are also available, which means you can turn
your wireless Pocket PC into a Voice over WiFi phone.

Don't try installing Skype for Pocket PC on Windoes Mobile 2003 SE devices (such as the Axim X30) as it causes the Pocket PC to hang (needing a soft reset), doesn't work, and then doesn't uninstall properly.

Interesting product.
When are they going to release the Palm OS version?
Someone please explain the process in laymans...
1. If I purchased a mobile p.c. phone, would I need a data plan through my wireless carrier...i.e...Sprint?
2. If so, would I need to have a voice plan first , ($30/month) plus a data plan over that? ($40+/month) in order to make these calls...?
3. What would be the obvious benefit to using skype this way if I already have a National voice plan?
Please forgive me if I sound totally dumb with these questions...sometimes we overlook the basics and assume people know the standard stuff...
