Radica Games announces standalone Street Fighter II unit
This isn't quite as cool as the Neo Geo joystick, but
hey, what is? Radica Games has just announced Play TV Legends Street Fighter: II
Special Champion Edition, a standalone unit that includes two authentic Sega Genesis controllers that plug
straight into your TV. The device also comes loaded with the classic Ghouls and Ghosts, and retails for
$34.99. Yeah, it's a bit pricey considering you can get Street Fighter II compilations for about the
same price, but you gotta love anything that keeps the 2D fighting alive.

Hmm. I was wondering when this will come out. Hopefully they use the Genesis 6 button design and pack a few more games in it besides SF2:CE and Ghouls and Ghost. Both are excellent games, but Capcom has produced many other fine games.

They're using 2 Genesis controllers? I would pay $50 if they would have used two arcade sticks.

The question I have here is: are these the Genesis ports or the original arcade versions?

That's nothing. I still have Super Street Fighter II on SNES with Capcom's Special Edition controller which is much different than SEGA's controller. :)

I'm willing to bet these are the Genesis ports.

What I really want (like George already said) is genuine arcade stick setups with genuine arcade games built in. There's enough room inside most stick boxes to put system hardware - a company could theoretically just build a memory card reader into the side of one and sell games individually or have them come pre-loaded on the stick. Hell, MAME gamers are already doing that. Linking of 2 - 4 sticks is also key.
Bottom line, arcade perfect play is what I want, not the already watered down Genesis version. Its time companies stop pretending that porting arcade software is hard so that they can charge 35 - 50 bucks for a "compilation" of 2 games for PS2 or Xbox (I'm looking at you SNK, Capcom) or even 25 bucks for a hunk of cheap plastic housing a lame replica joystick that snaps in half after the first time you use it.
Why the hell isn't there a King of Fighters compilation with ALL the games on one disc? We know that it fits. In the words of the SNK Chaos announcer:
"C'MON!"
Oh, and for the guys who made that Atari 7800 Retro-system thing with the games built in, Warlords is meant to be 4 player - 4 human players!
That is all.
