Highgear's TrailAudio ruggedized audio player

Highgear's TrailAudio portable audio player seems well-designed for outdoor activities, with its detachable carabiner clip, splash-proof construction and easy-to-read display. But in this age of cut-rate audio players, we have to wonder whether those features are worth a bill that's double that of some similar products from other companies. At a street price of $225, the 512MB TrailAudio costs as much as two similarly equpped Creative Labs MuVos. They may not be ruggedized, but if you break one on the trail, you can have a spare waiting for you at home (and most flash players are, after all, pretty durable given their lack of moving parts). Of course, if Highgear follows industry trends and cuts prices, this could be worth checking out, if only to put it through its paces and see how rugged it really is.
